The new ‘Mean Girls’ movie is about to hit our screens really soon, but it is introducing some fresh and queer twists on this remake of the beloved 2004 chick flick!
Aside from the 2023 version being a musical, one of the characters — Janis Ian — will be an out and proud lesbian right from the start!
In the original film, Regina spreads rumors about Janis being a lesbian. Janis, played by Lizzy Caplan, revealed to Cady, played by Lindsay Lohan, that she used to be besties with Regina until the rumor came out.
While Janis never confirmed her sexual orientation in the original film, it became the basis for one of the most iconic jokes of the movie — George completely misunderstanding the word “Lebanese” for “lesbian.”
