Past, Present, & Future Collide in ‘First Note of Love’ Episodes 5 & 6

There’s a new (cute) guy in town! But will Orca’s appearance stir things in the wrong direction with Neil and Sea? Let’s find out in ‘First Note of Love‘ Episodes 5 and 6.

Episode 5: Ideal Partner

Sea was becoming agitated with comments online about how he is only riding in the coattails of Neil’s popularity. Liang and Ting Fei comfort him and tell him that he should ignore all of the negative comments and focus on the exciting part of making music with Neil. Ting Fei creates a fan page to help Sea out and says that they can make that the topic of their final school project.

Neil and Sea continue to prepare for their music as a duo and decide to go busking in a public place. With Ting Fei’s initiative to share the busking event, fans start to flock to the venue to listen to the popular Neil and the new guy on the keyboard. Sea, however, looked like he was about to faint from nervousness, but just in the nick of time, a new guy came along and shared his bass prowess to the delight of people. It turns out to be Thai superstar Orca! Orca was a Thai exchange student who became friends with Neil, Reese, and Matt. There was a palpable chemistry between Reese and Orca when they first met despite the language barrier.

After the busking event, Orca sat down with Neil and Sea to tell them frankly that Sea is not talented enough to be in a duo with Neil. But Neil was not having any of it and told him to stop berating Sea. After the awkward meeting, Sea moves to leave to his part-time job at Liang’s bar. But before he can leave, Neil stops him and asks if he can go with him. The two ride Sea’s scooter to the bar.

Meanwhile, Orca did not waste time by trying to get into Reese’s pants (and we admire him for that!). Reese definitely seems to have some leftover feelings for Orca as well, but is trying his best (and failing) to suppress them. Will these two eventually get together?

Episode 6: Unfinished Concert

A glimpse of the past, when Reese received the dreaded phone call that changed their lives. Magnet got into an accident just before their concert and Matt didn’t survive. Orca looks on as his friend, Neil, wallows in grief, while Reese beats himself up. Orca tries to cheer Reese up, to no avail when he realizes that Orca will have to leave for Thailand, too. Reese draws on Orca’s hand and tells him that he won’t forget him. Orca leaned in for a kiss, which took Reese by surprise. Orca tells him it’s fine, and Reese leaves, leaving their story open-ended.

Back to the present, Reese is beating himself up for another reason, that he might have screwed things over because the company is not helping him with the funding for Neil’s comeback. Neil comforts him and tells him that he needs Reese more and that the situation will eventually be fixed. He, then, teases him and asks him where Orca is and if he should go to him. Reese says he’s probably in a hotel since he’s rich now. Neil teases back saying that’s not possible since Orca always clings to him whenever he’s in Taiwan.

And Neil is definitely right because when Reese comes home, he sees none other than Orca lounging very comfortably in his bathrobe on his sofa, feeling right at home. Orca declares that he will be staying there, and Reese, too tired to argue, leaves him there. But the next day, Orca cooks breakfast for two and Reese has to get some drawing materials to explain to him that there is only one bed and that is his. Orca, smirking, draws a sofa and says that is his. Reese rolls his eyes but eats breakfast with him anyway.

Reese continues to be pressured by the company which makes him talk to Sea and eventually burden the college student that he is risking everything with him. Sea, burdened by the pressure of making their duo a success, his college studies, and his parent’s insistence, proved to be too much for him. He becomes distracted and spaces out during practice. This worried Neil who talked to Reese about it. Reese admitted that he may have put too much pressure on Sea, and Neil decided that he needed to fix the situation. He, then, invited Sea to his house.

How will things pan out at Neil’s apartment? Will Sea find the answers he’s been looking for or will things get even more complicated? Let’s find out in the next episode!
