Taylor Zakhar Perez “Excited” to Be Back For ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ Sequel

Taylor Zakhar Peres is sharing his thoughts on reprising his role for the sequel of the Prime hit movie ‘Red, White, & Royal Blue’.

Speaking to Deadline, Perez shared his excitement about playing Alex Claremont-Diaz, the first son of the United States, and lover to Nicholas Galitzine’s British Prince Henry.

“He just has an endless waterfall of optimism rushing over him at all times, and he has just nonstop positivity. So I think I’m excited to bring that back to the screen. And I think [with the] state of the world right now, we could use a little bit more of that,” he said in the interview.

‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ is the film adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s book of the same name. It follows Perez and Galitzine as the son of the American President and Britain’s prince who fell in love but must keep their relationship a secret due to their status.

In May, it was revealed that Perez and Galitizine would be returning for a sequel to one of Prime Video‘s most-watched romantic comedies of all time.

Co-writer and director Matthew López will be penning the follow-up film with McQuiston which he says is a “new collaborative process and a different challenge”. López, however, assured fans that the approach to the sequel will be similar to the first film.

“When we were starting this process, I kept saying that we’ll have succeeded at this adaptation…if you feel the same way at the end of the film, as you felt finishing the book. There’s no book to guide us, but what we have is Casey’s original thoughts and original ideas,” López said.
