Ruining the President’s Blind Date in ‘You Are Mine’ Episode 3

Last week’s pilot episodes of the most recent VIdol’s series introduced us to Shun Yu, an innocent and earnest secretary who had just had a startling first day of work under the terrifying President of the company, Shang Zhou. In ‘You Are Mine’ Episode 3, find out what other unexpected tasks he will be required to perform while attempting to be the best secretary!

Warning: Spoiler alert! Read at your own risk.

Shun Yu joyfully serves Shang Zhou the food he prepared for him at the workplace after receiving the order to make his breakfast. With a blank face at first, Shang Zhou eats the food and nods in approval, making Shun Yu happy. He then offers Shang Zhou another seat of bread toast with jam, thinking that he may eat it all day as a snack. Although Shun Yu tries to convince Shang Zhou that drinking coffee before a meal is unhealthy for the stomach, the latter nonetheless complies when Shang Zhou tells him to make him a cup. While Shun Yu prepares the coffee, Shang Zhou eagerly consumes the toast behind his back before acting as though he has not yet tasted the bread toast and jam. Shun Yu does, however, notice the jam’s traces at the corner of his lips and point them out. To cover his embarrassment, Shang Zhou questions Shun Yu why he made him kid-sized snacks, making the latter worried that he offended him once again. Shang Zhou is about to stop Shun Yu from leaving with the bread toasts when he receives a call from his mother. He became irritable and took it out on Shun Yu.

After getting scolded by Shang Zhou, Shun Yu complains to the other secretaries, and although they try to comfort him, they are also grateful that he’s the one being traumatized by the President instead of them. Noticing that Shang Zhou seemed to be in a good mood earlier that day, Lisa asked Shun Yu what happened after he had given him breakfast. Shun Yu explains that Shang Zhou’s mood seems to have changed after he received a call from his mother. Lisa and the rest of the secretaries immediately realize what has transpired and explain that the call means Shang Zhou will have to go on a blind date. Shun Yu offers to look up and make reservations at a restaurant for the blind date, reasoning that a good secretary must be able to assist the president with his dating needs. He’s shocked when the secretaries tell him he must ruin it instead. Sofia, who has already done it three times, officially passes him the task. Shun Yu tries to decline but is unable to do so due to peer pressure. Lisa presents Shun Yu to Shang Zhou and discusses the plan to sabotage the date on which he will act as his lover in front of the blind date and drop a box of condoms to suggest intimacy between them.

At the hotel, Shang Zhou is impatiently waiting for Shun Yu, who is currently purchasing condoms at the convenience shop, and his blind date. Shun Yu even inquired about his preferences out of a desire to win his favor, much to Shang Zhou’s chagrin. While all of this is going on, the blind date, Mon Mon, eventually shows up and tries to bring him to a room rather than the hotel’s restaurant. Shang Zhou tells her he needs to call his secretary to buy some more time. As soon as Shun Yu, who is terrible at acting, arrives, he calls for the two’s attention. Mon assumes that Shun Yu is calling her, hence her shock when he calls Shang Zhou instead and shouts, “You are mine,” just before he stumbles on the wet floor. Shang Zhou manages to catch him again, but not the condom boxes that Shun Yu is holding. The condom boxes are exposed to Mon Mon, who calls Shang Zhou a pervert before she walks away angrily. Shang Zhou stops Shun Yu when he tries to follow Mon Mon to clear Shang Zhou of being a pervert. Shun Yu burst out, saying that while Mon Mon might have the right to not accept a gay couple, she can’t call Shang Zhou a pervert, which makes him laugh. He becomes flustered when Shang Zhou asks him if he has ever been in love if he has ever used a condom, and if he is okay with a man-to-man relationship. He then shoves all the condoms to Shang Zhou before he quickly returns to their office, feeling embarrassed by the sudden turn of the conversation.

The secretaries applaud Shun Yu for being their lucky charm and celebrate the success of ruining the blind date. Shun Yu, meanwhile, was compelled to ask Lisa whether or not he was working as a secretary because the jobs he had been performing appeared to be outside of the scope of the company. Shang Zhou, who has just returned from the store with a paper bag filled with bread for Shun Yu, overhears the exchange. He enters the room and coldly informs Shun Yu that he will no longer be doing anything unexpected and will focus on the annual sales report instead, much to the mortification of the secretaries. The bread that he brought for Shun Yu is then thrown into the trash.

Shun Yu begins helping Shang Zhou with the yearly sales report from day to night. He once overhears Lisa and Sofia discussing how Shang Zhou’s mother mandated huge changes in the annual sales report for the following year as a punishment for ruining his blind dates. Shun Yu couldn’t help but take responsibility for the stress he believes Shang Zhou is going through. He delivers Shang Zhou coffee while putting in extra hours, promising to be there for him whenever he needs assistance. Shun Yu sends Shang Zhou the necessary report later that evening, despite beginning to feel ill. As soon as Shang Zhou reads the words “his forever secretary” in Shun Yu’s closing remarks, he cannot help but smile.

The next morning, Shun Yu becomes ill but continues to work; however, Shang Zhou himself sends him home. Before sending him off with his driver and car, Shang Zhou instructs him to call him as soon as he gets to his residence. When the driver and Shun Yu arrive at his normal drop-off location, the driver asks him to wait since Shang Zhou instructed him to get Shun Yu porridge while unintentionally leaving the car door open. A mysterious stranger appears out of nowhere and drapes a black cloth over the dozing Shun Yu’s head.

Writer’s Thoughts

What an unexpectedly hectic turn of events in the office! We can now probably confirm Shun Yu’s suspicion that, even though his boss may appear to be stern and harsh on the surface, he has a soft spot in his heart because of the way he acts. Like how he pretends to find the meal that Shun Yu prepared just tolerable when, in fact, he enjoys it greatly. And also he told Shun Yu to not attend the meeting so that he wouldn’t make the others sick, but what he meant was to show Shun Yu that he cared. The episode ends shockingly with a hint of our innocent secretary being abducted. To learn what happens next, be sure to watch Episode 4, which airs on September 29!
