Gu Jing receives a bluebird home décor from Liu Li, which he fondly displays on the bar counter of his restaurant.

As Gu Jing heads out to retrieve a package, he runs into Lai, who knows that he treats Liu Li well and asks for assistance. Later, Da-ren is surprised to see Lai inside the restaurant carrying a birthday cake in a paper bag. Lai says he is planning to give Liu Li a surprise birthday celebration, so he asks Gu Jing to take him out in the meantime. Gu Jing takes Liu Li in his car and even assists him in fastening his seatbelt, bringing his attention to their proximity. Unexpectedly, Gu Jing asks where he wants to go that day for his birthday, surprising Liu Li, who has never mentioned his birthday before. After Liu Li admits that he is not used to celebrating birthdays, Gu Jing tells him that he will help him get used to it from now on. Back in the restaurant, Da-ren allows Lai to set everything up while explaining that Liu Li hasn’t had his birthday celebrated since before they graduated from college and that his parents have settled in another country, leaving him alone since then.

Upon arriving at a water park, Gu Jing lets Liu Li explore the attractions while keeping a close eye on him. Watching the fishes in the aquarium, Liu Li asks Gu Jing why he is staring at him so intently, as it makes him feel shy around him. Rather than answering his question, Gu Jing tells Liu Li that people can determine the moods of others simply by observing them. He then gestures to a couple next to them who appear to be smiling at each other fondly and says that studies show boys stop smiling at the age of five, so a man’s wide smile must indicate his deep affection for his partner. He draws Liu Li’s attention to another couple and says that, as the two appear to be shyly flirting, they may still be in the courting stage, finding opportunities to create physical contact. Gu Jing puts his hand on Liu Li’s shoulder as this is going on, making Liu Li ask if he brought him there to observe and gather ideas for his book. Gu Jing shakes his head, telling him that he brought him there to celebrate his birthday, then, if it was a simulation experience, asking him how they should go about it. He tells him to use his imagination, and Liu Li immediately comes up with ideas of what two people on a date could enjoy doing: secretly kissing in a water park after a romantic date or just sneaking around. Gu Jing makes fun of him by saying that he is a fiction writer before they carry on enjoying the day,

When they return, Lai and Da-ren surprise them with the restaurant set for a birthday party. As they drink the night away, Lai suggests that they play a round of Truth or Dare. Da-ren asks Liu Li who his favorite person at the table is when the bottle points at him, but he also instinctively thinks that his answer might be Gu Jing. Upon noticing that Gu Jing is looking at him as the others continue to tease them, Liu Li takes his glass and is about to drink it when Gu Jing takes it from him and offers to do so on his behalf. Gu Jing promises to get all of the drinks to come after that as well. Da-ren grumbles that Gu Jing can have his drinks too because he’s already drunk, but the former just laughs it off. As the bottle points at Liu Li once more, surprising them both, Lai asks him to confirm that Gu Jing is his favorite. Unable to respond, Liu Li picks up the glass, but Gu Jing simply chuckles at him before taking it from him again. Gu Jing’s phone rings during another round, and he gets up to answer it, confirming to the person on the other end that the schedule works for him. Going back to their table, he then brings the cake for Liu Li to blow, and as he does so, everyone cheers for him to make his three wishes. Liu Li makes three wishes: first, that everyone be safe and happy; second, that his book be published soon; and third, the one that he kept to himself. Liu Li refuses to answer Lai’s questions about his third wish as he cuts the cake; in the meantime, Da-ren pipes up that telling someone your wishes will prevent them from coming true. Amidst all of this, Gu Jing gets to his feet and assists Liu Li in cutting the cake. Caught off guard by their sudden proximity once again, his mind runs to the third wish he made earlier when Gu Jing suddenly leans on him to wish him a happy birthday. This caused him to turn around and find his lips meeting Gu Jing’s. Lai and Da-ren, meanwhile, look at them in shock.

After getting drunk Gu Jing settled into his apartment, and Liu Li attempted to make him some warm honey water to soothe his feelings. Gu Jing ends up preparing the drink for the two of them because he has no idea how to make one. Liu Li finds himself staring at Gu Jing’s throat and lips as he drinks the warm honey water. At last, he musters the courage to ask Gu Jing if he can serve as the inspiration for his third book. Gu Jing gives Liu Li a gentle pat on the nape before grinning and nodding as he agrees.

Writer’s Thoughts:

Officially, the ship has sailed! At last, Liu Li asks Gu Jing to serve as the inspiration for his third book, and the latter agrees. Things are going to get sweeter or spicier as they start dating for a simulated experience on Liu Li’s side, even though we aren’t sure if Gu Jing’s actions are just that of someone looking to use his marketing genius once more as he helps Liu Li learn how to write again or if he is interested in him romantically (what with bringing someone into a birthday date despite knowing them for just a few days?!).
