Episode 7: What should we do about each other?

After their intense argument, Bu Xia waits for Jiang Chi so he can apologize while he acknowledges himself being bad at words. He falls asleep as his roommate, who is actually just standing outside their room, ignores his messages. When Jiang Chi finds Bu Xia sleeping on the couch in spite of the cold and covers him with a blanket, he realizes that the latter had previously rejected some of his romantic advances and concludes that he had somehow mistakenly interpreted the action in his favor.

The ghosts begin to bother Bu Xia once more the following day as a result of Jiang Chi’s absence and make fun of the boy by asking if he broke up with the law student, a question he tries to argue with. Unexpectedly, one of the voices reveals that they might have bothered Bu Xia the previous night if Jiang Chi had not touched him while he was sleeping. When his sister pays him a visit, she inquires about his dark circles, and after initially assuming that they were caused by the voices of the ghosts, she realizes that her brother may be having a disagreement with his roommate. Bu Xia shares Jiang Chi’s confession with him, which excites his sister, but when he claims he said nothing in response to the confession, her excitement vanishes instantly. To her surprise, his brother admits to feeling hateful because Jiang Chi seems to really mean it, despite the fact that he just used the man to silence the ghosts’ voices. Bu Xia reacts angrily when she advises him to use Jiang Chi once more, but she goes on to explain that if he didn’t feel anything for the law student, he wouldn’t be worried about their situation. She explains to him that loving someone entails missing them when they are absent and being happy regardless of the activity as long as they are together. As a result of her brother’s hurt feelings following Jiang Chi’s declaration that they would no longer interact, she also urges him to make the relationship solid. She casually replies when Bu Xia inquires about whether she believes their grandfather will support the pairing of two men and that he will likely only be pleased that someone can control his grandson.

Bu Xia starts dropping off snacks on Jiang Chi’s motorcycle, along with brief notes expressing regret and sharing about his day. Meanwhile, the team notices that Jiang Chi refuses to play with Bu Xia, making them assume that the two are in a fight. The captain leaks to the manager that Jiang Chi overhears Bu Xia admitting to being kind to him just to recruit him into the team. When Jiang Chi finishes his training, Bu Xia makes an attempt to get him to speak but is publicly rejected. Their manager tries to reassure him by saying that Jiang Chi is like that to everyone, but he becomes agitated. The team urges him to follow Jiang Chi and ask for forgiveness, he tells her, adding that he is not like everyone else. On his way out, Jiang Chi is stopped by Bu Xia and is asked if he likes the latter, which irritates Jiang Chi once more. Even though he kept something from Jiang Chi or the reason why he tries to get close to him, Bu Xia asks him if he will still like him.

Jiang Chi declares his liking for the anthropology student in front of him before leaving. Unexpectedly, Bu Xia pulls him in for a kiss and tells him to think about why someone would kiss another person—exactly what he had previously advised the other. Jiang Chi grinned and kissed Bu Xia after understanding what he meant. Even the ghosts can already guess that the two are now dating when they return to their routine of spending time together. This time, however, they do so with more affection. The ghosts start to worry about what will happen to them now that the couple is likely to touch them more. The offer to work as an intern for a law firm comes to Jiang Chi, but he rejects it because he thinks Bu Xia might need his assistance with his studies.

Bu Xia decides to go out to dinner with his teammates to celebrate his birthday but is disappointed when they show up to be busy. Later, when he is training by himself, he starts to wonder what life was like before his roommate. Jiang Chi later finds Bu Xia in the common area after seeing a couple fight on television over not telling the other the truth (Surprise! The two actors are also the actors in the television show!) He drags him to the kitchen and presents him with a bowl of noodles. When the anthropology student comments that the law student doesn’t do birthdays, Jiang Chi tells him that he can do it for him.

They eat the noodles to wish for them to last a long time. Jiang Chi produces a black ribbon that Bu Xia initially thinks will be used to cuff his wrists but gets excited when the former uses it to cover his eyes instead.

Writer’s Thoughts:

Finally! The boys are now on the same page with their feelings for one another; the only remaining question is whether Bu Xia will ever reveal to his boyfriend the real reason he became touchy with the latter. Or is it just like their cameos, in which Yo Hsuan Yang’s characters reject and abandon Wei Zhe Hong for keeping something secret? Let’s all find out on next week’s episode of ‘Stay By My Side’ Episode 8, featuring a suspicious black ribbon?!
