Dae Byeol adopts the dog that Uno saved and brought to the animal clinic, just as he finally agrees to have the dog cafe enlisted for the variety show, Doobi Doobi Jab. Meanwhile, Lady Luck doesn’t seem to be on Uno’s side, as he ends up with a job he tries to avoid the most: working in a dog cafe. Will Uno survive his first day peacefully when the owner of the dog cafe already has a negative impression of him? Let’s find out in BLTai’s recap of ‘Love is Like a Cat’ Episodes 5–6.

Episode 5

Gi Min and Jun Hyuk excitedly wait for the pilot episode of Doobi Doobi Jab, which will reveal who will be the celebrity joining the variety show and what job he will be doing. Meanwhile, Dae Byeol nonchalantly observes on the side, but he gets anxious after seeing Uno land a job in his dog cafe. He also gets a call from Eun Young, who tells him that a pet needs brand will be sponsoring products at the dog cafe as part of an indirect advertisement for the whole month that perked him up. Eun Young also assures that Dae Byeol can keep the products even if Uno leaves the show midway, and she is quite sure that it won’t happen.

On the other hand, Uno begins to prepare for the dog cafe by watching animal shows and surrounding himself with toys that resemble animals and even toys that make animal noises until he finally deems himself ready. However, CEO Pyo and Seong Ju couldn’t help but worry. A few days later, Eun Young and the production team finally arrive at the dog cafe to set up the place with cameras that automatically turn on and turn off every nine in the evening to signal that the shooting for the day is already done. She also gives them a vest that has a camera in its front pocket that they can use if they go outside with Uno to run errands. The only places left without cameras are the bedroom and the bathroom, or what serves as Dae Byeol’s residence. Later, she provides them with a simultaneous interpreter to be able to communicate with Uno conveniently. They then wait for Uno’s arrival at the dog cafe, where Seong Ju sends him off excitedly and even compliments the dog cafe’s exterior. Seong Ju wishes that the owner will be a woman who will be captivated by Uno’s charms, so he will hopefully not be asked to work so much. Uno then heads to the dog cafe, wearing an immaculate three-piece suit, enhancing his good looks. Upon his entry, Gi Min and Jun Hyuk welcome him warmly, while Dae Byeol remains silent on the side. The staff tells them through the intercoms set up that they must now do the first mission, which is to introduce themselves and show off their special talents. If the special talent doesn’t generate a reaction from the audience, the person will get punished. If the special talent is well received, then the person will be rewarded. Before the mission begins, Dae Byeol tells Uno that the dog cafe has one rule that he must follow, and that is that he shouldn’t hurt the animals, or else he’s automatically out of the job.

Gi Min goes first on the mission and shows dance as his special talent, followed by Jun Hyuk, who does aegyo in front of them. Dae Byeol then follows and presents awkward celebrity impersonations. Uno goes last and tells everyone sincerely that he hopes to work well at the dog cafe before he sings a song that everyone loves, including Eun Young and the production team.

Episode 6

After the mission, Jun Hyuk brings Dae Byeol outside to ask if he knew Uno, following the warning he gave him earlier. Dae Byeol says that he met Uno by chance in front of the animal clinic back then. Jun Hyuk then comments that Dae Byeol should have brought out his guitar when Uno was singing, as they would compliment each other, but the latter shrugs him off and says that it has been a long time since he played. Before leaving for work, Jun Hyuk says that Uno reminds him so much of Chi Seob, to which Dae Byeol immediately disagrees. He reminds Dae Byeol to be gentle with Uno, or else he will run away.

Later, Dae Byeol brings Uno to the mini camping site they set up on the dog cafe’s rooftop, which will serve as his quarters. Uno refuses and tries to convince Dae Byeol to let him stay in a more comfortable place, but the latter remains firm with his decision and even dares him to quit if he wants to. He also calls out Uno for wearing a suit when he is going to a dog cafe to work, reminding him that he is there as a worker and not as a celebrity. He then gives him working clothes, which he will wear once he starts interacting with the dogs. Uno finally remembers Dae Byeol as the one who helped him in the animal clinic while he was fighting with the girl and her pet. The next day, Uno wears the clothes that Gi Min lent him but adds protective gear to them, including gloves and even an eye protector, much to Dae Byeol’s chagrin. Dae Byeol then brings him outside and orders him to set up the dog cafe’s outdoor tables and chairs. Not used to physical labor outside his workout, Uno gets frustrated and exhausted at the same time, especially when he later finds out that Dae Byeol has a push cart that he could have used to make his task easier. After setting up, Dae Byeol brings him to the side of the cafe, where Daekgu is waiting to be fed in his doghouse. Uno is surprised to see the very same dog that he saved and attempted to adopt, but he doesn’t tell Dae Byeol, who then shows him how to feed dogs. Uno watches as Dae Byeol gently pets Daekgu.

That evening, Jun Hyuk cooks for everyone and gets compliments from Uno for his amazing cooking skills. He also uses it as an opportunity to get his autograph for his nurses, although Gi Min’s teasing ultimately presses Jun Hyuk to admit that he is also a fan of Uno. Eun Young and Seong Ju enter the cafe as soon as the clock strikes nine to talk to them and provide feedback on the contents that they made. Eun Young praises Uno and Dae Byeol’s unexpected chemistry and even tells the latter to make the former’s life more miserable in the coming days. Uno signs heavily after hearing it and is comforted by Seong Ju and CEO Pyo, who is also on the phone waiting for updates. Eun Young reminds Uno not to run away, although he answers that he doesn’t even plan on doing so. As he rests in his quarters, Uno is experiencing physical pain from the heavy labor he has been performing all day. To his surprise, Dae Byeol joins him and initiates putting ointment on him. While he initially refuses, Uno gives in and takes off his clothes for Dae Byeol to help him. Dae Byeol also reminds Uno to not give himself a hard time and to rest if the task is too hard before he leaves.

Writer’s Thoughts:

It is the official meeting of the dog lover and the person who sees animals as his greatest fear. Since Uno is genuinely making an effort to come out of his shell and prove to everyone that he is more than just his icy, distant demeanor, we can’t help but find his discomfort endearing. Nonetheless, this week’s episode raises the possibility that Dae Byeol’s prior experiences may have shaped his current character, contrary to our first assumption that he only wanted to be independent when it came to running his cafe. Is it Chi Seob that Jun Hyuk mentions as someone similar to Uno and is he also the reason why Dae Byeol has stopped playing the guitar?
