Episode 3

After the meeting with CEO Pyo of the company, Uno asks for Seong Ju’s honest opinion on whether he will do well in a variety show. To his disappointment, Seong Ju thought that it was just a what-if scenario and told Uno to reject the offer as it didn’t go along with his image of a quiet and heartless guy. Although Seong Ju knows that Uno’s personality is the opposite and that his image to the public is actually part of his charm. Seeing the problematic look on Uno’s face, Seong Ju realizes that the latter is actually on the brink of accepting a variety show. While he doesn’t show it, Uno worries about the card that the producer has on him.

Meanwhile, the dog cafe gets a visit from Lee Eun Yong, the very same producer of the variety show, as she is looking for sites where they can shoot Doobi Doobi Jab. The clueless Dae Byeol is informed that Doobi Doobi Jab, a variety show where famous celebrities try on the professions of normal people for a month, received an application from his dog cafe. After confirming that Gi Min is also innocent of the sudden fiasco, Dae Byeol realizes that it was Jun Hyuk who sent the application. He tries calling Jun Hyuk to confront him; however, the latter has already anticipated what will happen and avoids him. Da Byeol tries to explain to Eun Yong that he is not aware of the application; however, it offends the producer as it looks like Da Byeol is making a fool of them. Upon Eun Yong’s threat that she will sue Dae Byeol for the inconvenience, Gi Min suggests that they let Eun Yong scan the place in the meantime. Dae Byeol gives in and runs to the animal clinic to confront Jun Hyuk.

Back to Uno, he tries to back out of his initial acceptance of the variety show, but CEO Pyo begs him again that they cannot handle another scandal from coming in. However, Uno insists that he can manage it on his own. He then asks Seong Ju to take him to the animal clinic. Meanwhile, Jun Hyuk nonchalantly admits that he is the one who applied for the dog cafe as a shooting location for Doobi Doobi Jab, as the pay is good and it will be able to handle the bills. He rubs salt in the wound by saying that the cafe makes more expenses than earnings, and Dae Byeol’s idea of taking care of it is not working well. Not to mention the fact that he also keeps adopting stray dogs and bringing them to the cafe. Since he knows that Dae Byeol will never chase away the dogs he adopted, Jun Hyuk sees the opportunity, also as a shareholder of the cafe, as another means of income. Dae Byeol insists that he doesn’t want to make money off the dogs, but Jun Hyuk reminds him that he also has shares in the cafe; hence, he can also decide for them. Left with no choice, Dae Byeol lets it go. On his way out, he sees the dog that Seong Ju brought and left in the animal clinic after paying for all the fees as ordered by Uno. Jun Hyuk informs Dae Byeol that no one has yet adopted the dog, and he understands that Dae Byeol might feel tempted to adopt it too. He tries to refute Dae Byeol and strikes a deal that they will first wait to see if the dog will be adopted by someone else; if not, only then can Dae Byeol take it. In the end, no one has adopted the dog, and Dae Byeol happily takes it with him. Just after Dae Byeol leaves, Uno arrives at the animal clinic and orders Seong Ju to check up on the dog. Seong Ju mentions in passing that dogs who are not adopted within ten days after being sent from an animal clinic to an animal shelter are euthanized. While he pretends that he is not affected by the dog’s possible fate, Uno considers having Seong Ju adopt it. Seong Ju immediately refuses, as he lives with his parents, giving Uno the idea to have CEO Pyo adopt it instead. In return, he will finally accept the variety show offer.

Episode 4

Seong Ju is informed that the dog has already been adopted and excitedly tells Uno that he doesn’t need to do the variety show anymore. Uno immediately feels relieved that the dog already has an owner and tells Seong Ju to tell CEO Pyo that he is withdrawing from the deal. However, in the short time that has passed, CEO Pyo has already told Eun Yong that Uno agrees. In the end, Uno ultimately decides to stick with his end of the deal and do the show. Meanwhile, Dae Byeol has gained sense and tells Jun Hyuk that he wants to stick with his decision to not use the dog cafe for Doobi Doobi Jab. Jun Hyuk disagrees and tells him that the payment will be five hundred thousand won per day, or equivalent to fifteen million won for the whole month, to get him to agree. Using the stray dogs that Dae Byeol has adopted—the latest one, which he named Deokgu—Jun Hyuk tells him that the money can be used to ensure that all dogs are well fed and that the expenses of the dog cafe will be covered.

On Uno’s first face-to-face meeting with Eun Yong, she gives him an interpreter simulation to facilitate communication between them. After discussing the nature of the contract, Uno asks for alone time with Eun Yong and takes it as a chance to know what card she has on him. Eun Yong shows him the photo of his father, making Uno realize that she knows his heritage and that he doesn’t want to be associated with him. In passing, Gi Min finds an article about Uno joining a variety show and hopes that it will be for Doobi Doobi Jab. He mentions it to Dae Byeol, who initially didn’t know who Uno was but remembers him as the person he encountered in the animal clinic. Meanwhile, Uno’s father learns about him taking a variety show and plans to expose their relationship but decides not to do so after the advice of his secretary to monitor his son in the meantime.

Uno begins to research Doobi Doobi Jab and becomes anxious after watching a celebrity try to be a babysitter. Seong Ju tells him that the show doesn’t always involve humans but sometimes involves animals also, to Uno’s chagrin. Seong Ju also declines Uno’s plea to come along with him once the time comes. The first day of the shooting finally arrives, and Uno is visibly anxious and reacts without an ounce of energy that the hosts were forced to compensate with. With the wheel of professions that will decide his fate, Uno hopes that it will be related to cooking or automobiles and expresses that he wants to avoid interacting with animals if possible.

To everyone’s surprise, the wheel that Uno spun lands working in a dog cafe, the very same one he tries to avoid. Although shocked, Uno tries to look calm and promises to do his best in the show. At home, Uno complains about how unlucky he is for landing on the dog cafe and considers asking CEO Pyo to resolve it, as he is truly afraid of what is to come. CEO Pyo tries to negotiate with Eun Yong and explains that Uno has a trauma with dogs, but she remains firm that the show must be fair. She even comments that going on the show may help Uno overcome his trauma. In the end, Uno puts a stop to CEO Pyo’s continuous complaints to Eun Yong and says that he will do the show as agreed upon and manage by getting familiar with it first.

Writer’s Thoughts:

It looks like we are about to get more interactions between Dae Byeol and Uno in the upcoming episodes, as the latter lands a job in the dog cafe for the variety show. It will be interesting to see how the reluctant Dae Byeol will welcome an equally reluctant Uno in the cafe and the possible surprise once they find out that they are both involved in the very same dog, Daekgu. Let’s find out what Uno means by getting familiar with the next episodes dropping on Monday in GagaOOLala. Will he meet Dae Byeol again before the official shooting of the variety show even starts?
