LOOK: Queer Sitcom ‘Big Boys’ Season 2 First Pics Out Ahead of 2024 Release

The first pics of the return of British queer sitcom ‘Big Boys’ for its second season are out!

The coming-of-age show airs on Channel 4 created by Jack Rooke. It tells the story of Jack, a shy and closeted 19-year-old student who recovers from the death of his father and explores his sexuality for the first time. He lives with Danny, a 25-year-old mature student who deals with his own mental health issues. Played by Dylan Llewellyn, Jack is the semi-fictionalized character of Rooke.

The first season aired from May 26 to June 9, 2022, and was renewed for a second season a month later. Filming began in May 2023 and is expected to air in January next year.

The second season will be the character’s second year in the university “where alongside dealing with virginity hang-ups, drug experimentation (both legal and otherwise) and Jack’s obsession with Alison Hammond, this time round their degrees actually count!” It will also deal with Jack’s continuing recovery from his dad’s passing and Danny’s learning  how to better deal with his mental health issues.

When Attitude caught up with Rooke at the TV BAFTAs where the show was nominated for four awards, he was quiet on what was to come in the installments. Still, he said that “the second year of uni” is going to be “bigger, better, and it counts.”

He also expressed his joy after ‘Big Boys’ received positive response from critics. “I’m so pleased. We’re really, really chuffed to be here, especially because it’s really hard to know whether a show that has got gay leads and gay writers is going to hit the mainstream, but this has.”

‘Big Boys’ Season 1 currently streams on All 4 now.
