Episode 1: Impressively Shocking Day: One
Two young men simultaneously prepare to get to work; one is Shun Yu, who is excitedly getting ready from his quaint small apartment for his first day as secretary. The other one is Shang Zhou, who is meticulously getting ready from his expensive home.
Shun Yu successfully enters the high-level building of Tien Xia Online Shopping Company, where he will be employed in the secretary’s office. He introduces himself to the group of secretaries, all of whom are women. Since he is a new employee, he is surprised to learn from Lisa, the team leader of the secretary team, that he will be directly and closely reporting to Shang Zhou, the company’s president. Everyone applauds him cheerfully as he goes about his duties, gushing about how the president treats everyone equally regardless of how long they have worked for the company.
In the middle of the welcome celebration, Shun Yu accidentally trips over as the ladies pop confetti on him but is caught by a strong pair of arms in a pristine suit that belongs to none other than Shang Zhou himself. The group quickly organizes itself out of fright and orders Shun Yu to follow Shang Zhou inside his office. In a flashback, Lisa begs Vice President Lee to assist her with Shang Zhou’s temperament. Vice President Lee offers to assist her and proposes hiring a male secretary who will be tougher than the female secretaries.
Inside the office, Shun Yu anxiously presents himself to Shang Zhou, who simply gives him the instruction to prepare coffee without saying anything. He struggles with the coffee maker but manages to make one in the end and kindly hands it to Shang Zhou. In the meantime, Shang Zhou dismisses him and informs him that since Shun Yu did not inquire about his preferred type of coffee, he will not be able to create one to his taste. He orders him to remove the coffee, and Shun Yu offers an apology before he calls him back to deliver a paper that he has just completed signing. Shun Yu stumbles and unintentionally spills the coffee on Shang Zhou’s clothes. Infuriated, Shang Zhou stands up from his table and undoes his top, revealing his muscular body, while Shun Yu nervously waits all around him. As he selects clothing from his office closet, he orders Shun Yu to put his clothes in the trash. He then begins to outline his daily schedule so that Shun Yu can take notes. When Shun Yu fails to follow, Shang Zhou questions him about his prior employers, to which the man hesitantly replies that this is his first employment. He then asks Shun Yu if he has a bad temper, as everyone who stays in his office looks like they are in hell. Just as Shang Zhou is about to continue with his harsh litany, Vice President Lee knocks and greets Shun Yu, who then goes out of the room immediately. Vice President Lee persuades Shang Zhou to give Shun Yu at least three months to prove himself, as all the secretaries have already given up on him, leaving him no choice but to agree.
Shun Yu is washing the dirty clothes as he recalls his hiring interview with Vice President Lee. He quickly responds that he will demonstrate his worth when Vice President Lee poses hypothetical questions about having a terrifying boss. Shun Yu is very sincere and feels that working hard will help him win over his fearful boss. He is hired and supported right away by Vice President Lee. Returning to the present, he now understands the purpose behind the earlier questions. He asks one of the secretaries, Sofia, for advice on how to deal with Shang Zhou during their breaks and receives a notepad that has information regarding the president. Vice President Lee asks him how his first day was as he passes by on the way back. Shun Yu informs him with pride that, despite his initial disappointment, he has learned his lesson and will now do better. Vice President Lee compares working with Shang Zhou to petting a cat and advises him to treat him like one before he cheers him on again.
Shun Yu returns to the office in good spirits and begins to ask Shang Zhou, who appears to be experiencing yet another headache, about his preferences. When Shun Yu sees Shang Zhou preparing to take another medication, he tries to stop him and informs him that taking too many medications can be harmful to one’s health, as he has learned through his mother’s illness. He invites him to sit in his chair and offers to give him a head massage. Unbelievably, Shang Zhou felt better right away. Shun Yu, meanwhile, asks him to move to the sofa so he can be more comfortable. After a few minutes of receiving a head massage, Shun Yu notices Shang Zhou nodding off.
When Shang Zhou wakes up, he discovers Shun Yu sleeping on the floor with his head resting on the sofa and finds his clothes comfortably undone. He moves closer to Shun Yu’s face to get a better look and is startled as Shun Yu wakes up and turns to face him.
