Big cakes, petty quarrels, and star-crossed lovers, oh my!
‘Red, White, and Royal Blue’ has finally released its long-awaited trailer on Friday, July 7.
The footage showed a first look at Taylor Zakhar Perez as the US’ First Son, Alex Claremont-Diaz, and Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Henry of Britain as they bicker and flirt to Lil Nas X’s “That’s What I Want.”
The trailer showed the dashing Alex as he tries to live up to the expectations of his mother who is also the US president, played by the legendary Uma Thurman complete with a thick southern accent. Thurman gave her son only one instruction before he attended a royal wedding— “Don’t cause an international incident.”
But problems arose when Alex and his sworn enemy, Henry, get into a fight that causes the wedding cake to fall onto them– a fight the newspapers coin “The Buttercream Summit.” In order to re-strengthen US and British relations, the two were tasked to become friends, even just as a PR stunt. Sarah Shahi’s character then told Alex to “act like the sun shines out of his ass and you have a vitamin D deficiency.”
