Vice Ganda’s Queer Comedy ‘And The Breadwinner Is…’ Wraps Up Filming

Filipino LGBTQ icon Vice Ganda has officially wrapped up filming for his upcoming queer comedy ‘And The Breadwinner Is…’

On September 12, Thursday, the multi-hyphenated star announced on his official X account that the filming for his highly-anticipated movie had ended, much to fans’ delight and excitement.

The film will be produced under Star Cinema and The IdeaFirst Company. It will be helmed by award-winning director Jun Robles Lana, who is best known for his critically-acclaimed works with LGBTQ themes such as the 2016 trans drama film ‘Die Beautiful’, the 2019 queer movie ‘The Panti Sisters’, and the drama thriller ‘Kalel, 15’ among others.

Aside from the announcement, a video was also shared on social media showing Vice and Lana hugging and celebrating as soon as production had concluded.

‘And the Breadwinner Is… ‘ follows the touching story of Bambi (Vice), a breadwinner, and her family. The film will serve as a tribute to the unsung heroes who carry the weight of their loved ones’ dreams on their shoulders.

It will be released theatrically on December 25 as part of the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Joining Vice in the cast are Eugene Domingo, Jhong Hilario, Anthony Jennings, Kokoy de Santos, Maris Racal, Lassy Marquez, MC Calaquian, Petite, Joel Torre, Divine Tetay, Gladys Reyes, Gina Pareño, Al Tantay, and his husband, Ion Perez.

This is Vice’s comeback movie after taking a hiatus from making films with his last being ‘Partners in Crime’ with actress Ivana Alawi in 2022.
