Filipino LBTQ icon Vice Ganda’s upcoming queer comedy ‘And The Breadwinner Is…’ is in the works!

One of the film’s producers, The IdeaFirst Company, officially announced that the comedy film is undergoing production by reposting several photos of the multi-hyphenated non-binary superstar with several of the people behind the production.

The photos show the comedian in a meeting beaming for the camera, no doubt brainstorming about how to deliver yet another riotous movie for his fans, which is something he has yet to fail to do because trust and believe that mother will deliver every single time!

Aside from The IdeaFirst Company, the film will also be under Star Cinema and will be helmed by award-winning director Jun Robles Lana, who is best known for his critically-acclaimed works with LGBTQ themes such as the 2016 trans drama film ‘Die Beautiful’, the 2019 queer movie ‘The Panti Sisters’, and the drama thriller ‘Kalel, 15’ among others.

Lana previously teased that the film will be hitting local theaters soon, prompting fans to guess that it will premiere in December just in time for the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) which celebrates Filipino-produced films and runs from Christmas Day through New Year’s Day and into the first weekend of January in the following year. Nothing has been confirmed though as of this writing.

Vice last graced the silver screen in 2022 with actress Ivana Alawi for their MMFF entry ‘Partners in Crime’ under the same production company. He is known for his blockbuster queer movies such as ‘The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin’, ‘Fantastica’, and ‘Beauty and the Bestie.’
