Wee-woo! The cops are coming for the gays!
English actors Tom Blyth and Russell Tovey have been announced to star in the Carmen Emmi-helmed gay film ‘Plainclothes.’
Inspired by true events, ‘Plainclothes’ is set in the 90s following a working-class undercover cop who was assigned to entrapping and apprehending members of the queer community. His world and beliefs turn upside-down, however, when he finds himself inexplicably drawn to one of his targets.
Producers Arthur Landon and Colby Cote via Variety said, “‘Plainclothes’ is a heartfelt story that deals with internal conflict, family, and the complexities of sexual identity in the face of societal and personal expectations. We are excited to bring his first screenplay to life with this incredible cast.”
Blyth rose to stardom as the young Coriolanus Snow in ‘The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbird and Snakes’ with Rachel Zegler. Blyth’s Juilliard training also landed him a role in Michael Winterbottom’s film adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s classic literary work, “A Farewell to Arms.”
