Meanwhile, all of Shirasaki’s hard work has paid off because the latest episode made him trend number 1. Shirasaki was dumbfounded by this newfound success, especially when his manager said that a lot of people wanted to work and interview him, as well. His manager, Shinoda, became emotional over his success as well.
Sakuma talks about Shirasaki’s newfound success with Asami as well. Asami, on the other hand, says that he was not surprised by this at all, especially since back in college, Shirasaki used to draw crowds during their school play.
Now that Shirasaki has gained more fame when he went back to the restaurant he used to work for, he was recognized by a lot more people, including the employee he was replaced with. Shirasaki was surprised and immediately left the restaurant, only to get a lot of comments and mentions on his social media and messaging apps. As his fame continued to rise, he was interviewed left and right, filling up his schedule, leaving him no time to spend with Asami. He also found out that Asami is also packed with a lot of schedules, with the drama’s popularity at the moment. Sakuma sees Shirasaki sulking because he was not able to see Asami again. He teased him about feeling lonely without Asami, but he slowly realized, it might actually be true.
Although he’s now rising in his career, he still goes home alone, still confused over his own feelings. He touches the keychain that he bought when he was out on a date with Asami, lies in bed, and sulks. He walks to the slope where he walked with Asami and misses him even more.
Finally, Shirasaki sees Asami after a long while. Asami gives him a strawberry cake, his favorite, the moment they meet, and it prompted Asami to hug him tightly. Asami asked him if he could hug him, but Shirasaki joked that he was already hugging him anyway. Shirasaki’s thoughts, however, were only filled with how this “like” is his own feelings, and not his character Takumi’s. He finally admitted to himself that he really likes Asami.
A kissing scene from their drama just further ignited his feelings, so he immediately ran away. But it was not until Asami asked if he would like to come over to his house, to which Shirasaki immediately agreed. But just as fast as he agreed to it, he also immediately regretted it because he does not know how to act around Asami now that he realized how much he likes him. All the while that the confusion is happening in Asami’s heart and mind, a new guy enters the cafe (and his life!). He came on too strong, pretending to go in and kiss Asami almost immediately, to Asami’s surprise.
Writer’s thoughts:
Well, this series just got a lot more interesting! Shirasaki has finally achieved his well-deserved success. But the feeling of confusion was still evident, given that he was missing Asami the whole while that they were apart. Maybe he was just not used to not seeing Shirasaki every day. But his feelings were 100% confirmed when he finally sees Asami in the flesh, giving him his favorite dessert at that, too.
Meanwhile, Asami seemed to definitely have been keeping tabs on Shirasaki since they met back in college. And all of the praises he said to Asami seemed very genuine, but it doesn’t really mean that he has romantic feelings for him (yet). Until! This! Scene! When Yamase finally entered their lives, making Asami look in obvious jealousy while he pretended to go in and give Shirasaki a kiss.
