Back once again inside the train, Hua resignedly says that she’s thinking of giving up looking for Jack. While initially confused by Hua’s decision, Cha tells her to give up if she’s really considering doing so. They end up getting off the train station and walking around the city, taking photos around them and photos of each other. Cha later reminds Hua that they are almost at their destination and might as well go. Cha leads the way, while Hua, who is following behind her, calls Dee and asks where Jack is. Dee answers without a beat that his brother is at the karaoke station and asks if she will also come. She surprises not only Dee but also Cha by asking back if she ever said that she would join them. Hua then asks Dee who got Jack’s tickets, and to her surprise, Dee answers that it was Cha who gave them to him. In a flashback, Cha hangs out with Jack and other friends, as well as Kit. She then invites Kit to go to the karaoke station on the same day that Jack will. She then hands Dee the tickets as they smoke behind the school. Back to the present, Hua grins before ending her phone call with Dee and walking toward Cha, who is waiting for her anxiously. As Hua makes her way to Cha, a stream of flashbacks appears, with her giving money to Kit and pointing Jack to her as her boyfriend. Sometime later, she meets up with Kit again, who shows her the karaoke ticket that Cha gave her. Hua nods meaningfully at Kit before taking another drag of her cigarette.
Hua finally makes her way to Cha and kisses her. In a flashback, Cha is introduced to Hua while they are at a billiards place. Cha immediately catches Hua’s attention and stares back at her while all the people around them are in motion.
Writer’s Thoughts:
That was so not what we had expected! It appears that Jack has been taken advantage of, not just by Kit and Cha but also by Hua. Even so, we find it surprising that Cha and Hua chose this particular route to declare their affection for one another when there was a much easier way to resolve the issue. Nevertheless, “Scented Tea” would not be as noteworthy as it is if that had just happened. It makes the brief time it has very worthwhile because it leaves the viewers with a taste of surprise. If you are looking for a quick sapphic fix with a dash of mind games, then ‘Scented Tea’ is the perfect brew for you.
