‘Kidnap’ is continuing its exciting run with its story about unlikely love, complicated families, and the many layers of its complex cast. Let’s take a look back at episodes 3 and 4 and relive all the excitement!
Episode 3 – Debt And Desperation
This episode picks up right where the last episode left off: Q proposing that Min demand ransom from his father and keep the money. Min is hesitant, but Q insists that he thinks about it before walking into the house as the opening credits begin.
The next scene begins with Min waking up without Q by his side, only to discover that he was with Mhen, eating pizza. This puzzled Min, though, as he wondered who bought them. As if on cue, James, Min’s accomplice in the kidnapping and supposed murder of Q, walked in as Mhen said James bought the pizza with a smile, unaware that this spelled disaster for Min, exposing how he let Q live.
James berates MIn for his actions, which could get them into trouble. Min tries to convince James to help him return the money, so they wouldn’t have to end Q’s life. James isn’t fully sold on the idea, but decides to go along with it. This led to another problem, though, namely how Min would pay back the person who hired them since he had already spent some of the money.
Once James leaves, Min decides to give Q a lesson in trusting people, lecturing him about how it was irresponsible to let James in the house like he did. Q dismisses him, saying that anyone who’s friends with Min is probably harmless since Min looks like he couldn’t hurt a fly. Min then proves him wrong by surprising him with a headlock, proving his point.
Later that night, we get more glimpses into Q’s troubled past as he calls for his parents in his sleep, but we don’t get any specific details quite yet. This did, however, cause Min to lack sleep at work the next day, messing up his stunts. As a result, the team behind the film asks Min to stop working for a while. James tries to comfort him, but Min clearly seems distressed about how this will affect his financial situation.
Q’s ransom idea is brought up again once he notices just how much debt Min is in. Min hesitates again, asking what reason Q has to do this. Q says it’s for revenge against his dad, but Min continues to hesitate. Min, in an act of desperation, tries to take another loan from the same people he borrowed money from before, but they refused, instead telling him to go to the Hidden Dragon, which is the place he and James got the job to kidnap Q to begin with.
He returns there, only to be thrown out. He tries forcing himself in, which gets the attention of Yada, the wealthy woman who we saw in previous episodes trying to bribe Q’s father, and Suea, her bodyguard. She challenges Min to fight with someone else, with each punch he lands earning him more money. While Min isn’t exactly eager to get into a fight, he obliges, winning the duel and landing enough punches to pay off his debt. It is then that he is given a new offer: to take the high-paying yet morally dubious job of working as one of Yada’s bodyguards. He accepts, shaking her hand to seal the deal.
