GMMTV Announces Recasts for Several Series Including ‘Only Friends’ and ‘Cooking Crush’

GMMTV Cast

With countless artists working under GMMTV across multiple series, it is unfortunately unavoidable that sometimes, scheduling conflicts will occur.

This was the case with several series, which had to recast some actors due to scheduling conflicts, as announced by GMMTV in the post below.

In the series ‘Only Friends’, actress Piploy Kanyarat Ruangrung had to step down from her role, which will now be taken up by Lookjun Bhasidi Petchsutee. Given that Piploy will have a major role in the upcoming series ‘Wednesday Club’, it is likely that the two series’ schedules were in conflict. Worth noting is that ‘Wednesday Club’ also had a cast member change due to Joong Archen Aydin stepping down from his role and giving it to Satang Kittiphop Sereevichayasawat, likely due to scheduling conflicts with Joong’s BL series ‘Hidden Agenda’, which is set to air next month.

Another notable recast for a BL series is Mark Pakin Kuna-anuvit’s role in ‘Cooking Crush’ being given to actor Aungpao Ochiris Suwanacheep. Mark has since tweeted about the recast, explaining that he was not able to fulfill his role in the series as it conflicted with the schedules of his two other upcoming series, ‘Last Twilight’ and ‘Only Friends’.

This recast, however, has become a cause for controversy, as Mark’s character, Dynamite, was expected to have a romantic plotline with Neo Trai Nimtawat’s character, Fire. Aungpao, the new actor for this role, has a considerable age gap with Neo, only 17 years old, while the older actor is already 22 years old. It has yet to be clarified by the production team as to whether the new casting will lead to changes in this aspect of the series plot.

What do you think of these cast changes? Feel free to share your thoughts below!
