Warning: Spoiler alert. Read at your own risk.

Liu Li is on a call with his aunt and promises to realize his plans for introducing Gu Jing to his parents. Meanwhile, Gu Jing sleeps peacefully on their bed after staying up too late the night before, making Liu Li wonder what the former has been up to lately. He has also noticed that Gu Jing seems to have been busy with work the last few days. When Gu Jing wakes up to Liu Li, who is talking out loud about how he will introduce the former to his parents, the latter promises that they will work through it together and even jokes about letting Liu Li’s parents break his legs. He continues that it is now his turn to prove his worth, just like how Liu Li also faced his parents some time ago. Liu Li finds comfort in Gu Jing’s words, and his mood lightens up. He then mentions that he will be meeting Tsai that afternoon, and in return, Gu Jing tells him that he will be on a business trip to Japan the same month, which might take two weeks. Liu Li is surprised to learn about the trip just now when it will be a long one, but Gu Jing explains that he has to oversee the exhibition’s advertisement. Thinking that they might miss each other, Liu Li offers to come along to Japan, but Gu Jing tells him that he has a message to send first before he steps out of the room for a while. Liu Li worries that the upcoming distance will only affect him, but Gu Jing returns and invites him to a quick camping trip to spend quality time together before he departs.

The two go to a popular camping site, but Liu Li remains reluctant because he isn’t an outdoor person and expects Gu Jing to know that. However, Gu Jing explains that he is aware that Liu Li is having a struggle with his new book, where the main character has experience camping and figures that the trip will help him overcome his writer’s block. Seeing that Liu Li still feels sad about his upcoming trip and how busy they have been lately, Gu Jing promises to return as quickly as he can. Liu Li appreciates Gu Jing’s concern and begins to feel better about their camping trip until he falls asleep in his chair. Gu Jing tells the sleeping Liu Li that he wants to make money as soon as possible so that he can start working less. He also wants to prove to Liu Li’s parents that he can give him a good life. Liu Li pretends to be asleep but finally opens his eyes when Gu Jing starts taking photos of them together. Later that day, the two head to the nearby pond, where Gu Jing promises to catch a fish on his own. Liu Li makes Gu Jing catch fish with his bare hands, and the two end up having a good time despite the simplicity of their activity.

Meanwhile, Gu Jing’s friend, Shun Yu, and his fiance, Shang Zhou, are also near the camp. Shang Zhou has Shun Yu on his back as they walk around the camping park. The two talk about how Shang Zhou already told his mother that he trusts Shun Yu when it comes to matters of money. Shun Yu, on the other hand, expresses his appreciation for how Shang Zhou has also shown respect to his parents. Just then, Shun Yu recognizes Gu Jing’s tent and tells Shang Zhou excitedly to approach it, making the latter sulk as he still feels a bit of jealousy towards Gu Jing. At the same time, Liu Li and Gu Jing also return and are surprised. The two couples end up making plans to have dinner together. During dinner, Gu Jing takes charge of cooking while Shun Yu and Liu Li are setting up the table and gossiping about the latest updates on each other’s relationships. Meanwhile, Shang Zhou watches Gu Jing sulkily, as he doesn’t know his way into the kitchen. Gu Jing tells Shang Zhou that he will be asking for Shun Yu’s help cooking their dinner, resulting in the latter sitting with Liu Li in the meantime. As Gu Jing and Shun Yu busy themselves, Shang Zhou sulkily tells Liu Li that he needs to start knowing his ways in the kitchen, seeing that he is dating a restaurant owner, but the latter answers playfully that he is one to talk to after making his secretary do even the smallest thing for him. Liu Li also tells Shang Zhou that they should take their dinner back to their tent so both couples can spend a romantic evening together. Shang Zhou instructs Liu Li to inform him about the publication of his books, promising to purchase ten copies for each of his employees. Liu Li immediately says that Shang Zhou has a thousand employees, but the latter tells him he is wrong and that he only has nine hundred ninety-nine, as the last one is his wife, about Shun Yu. Shang Zhou then tells Shun Yu that they will head back to their tent, before reminding Liu Li to call him once his books are published so he can make an order.

Meanwhile, with the two of them finally alone, Gu Jing asks Liu Li how he became friends with Shang Zhou and playfully implies that he is jealous. Liu Li, on the other hand, assures him that he only advised about creating their worlds. Before going inside the tent, the two watch the star and cuddle each other to make a compromise that Gu Jing will take Liu Li with him to Japan as long as he promises that he will not stay in front of his computer when he is working, as he worries. After sharing a peck, Gu Jing tells Liu Li that, having been in the advertising field before, he is used to doing things that don’t align with who he is, but that changed when he met him. He thanks him for coming and staying in his life. Liu Li also becomes emotional and expresses his appreciation, saying that their fateful beginning is likely an indicator that they will stay together in the future.

That evening, the two make love inside their tent, under a sky full of stars.

Writer’s Thoughts:

We must admit that we almost didn’t recognize Gu Jing with the full hair and the absence of the beard, but he still looks handsome as always. This spin-off is a sweet special for our slow-burn couple and fills us with more romantic moments that we craved in the series. Although it was just a simple camping trip for the two, the manner of compromising or meeting halfway to make your partner comfortable and assured makes us feel satisfied with this coda. We will definitely miss the bluebirds, but we must now let them go and fly to their world! Stay tuned for more Vidol spin-offs that will air every Friday of May in GagaOOLala and our recaps every week here in BLTai!
