Episode 1: The repetition of coincidence is destiny!

Min Jae wanders around Hankuk University in search of the Arts and Music Faculty, where he must submit his papers in order to transfer his academic credits to the new semester. He runs into a male student, who then tells him to follow him so he can bring him there. To his surprise, the male student is a fast walker, making Min Jae incredibly exhausted by just running after him. Min Jae collapses on the ground to take a short break, and just as they reach the faculty’s building, the male student innocently points it at him. The next thing he knows, the male student is no longer within his sight.

Days later, Min Jae is organizing the books in the library as part of his duty when he notices a pile of books at the top of the shelf that he, unfortunately, cannot reach. He tips on his toes, but he still fails miserably until he feels someone so close to him reaching out for the books. Min Jae takes a look at his side and sees the male student who helped him the other day smiling at him widely as he hands him the books and then leaves. The next day, the male student appears in front of Min Jae again and starts a friendly conversation with him about the exams coming up. Min Jae is surprised by the male student’s friendliness, which prompts him to offer assistance through the school mobile app in return. The male student awkwardly introduces himself as Yoon Chan, a taekwondo student, and tells Min Jae that everyone calls him Chan instead. Yoon Chan then curiously asks Min Jae what his major was before he transferred to their faculty and says that it would be nice if they could be friends, given that they are the same age. When Min Jae hesitates to answer, Yoon Chan chuckles in an awkwardly loud voice, making the former remind him that they are in the library. Before leaving the librarian’s desk, Yoon Chan tells Min Jae that he is a good person, and that there is probably nothing to lose if they become friends. In the end, Min Jae watches Yoon Chand leave with a small smile on his face, until he notices that the latter left his wallet and figures out that it will probably be picked up later. For some reason, the wallet reminded Min Jae of his close encounter with Yoon Chan the day before, and he found himself unable to sleep that night. He hopes not to meet Yoon Chan again, as he finds his feelings weird when the other is around. To Min Jae’s utter frustration, Yoon Chan seems to be everywhere, although he does his best to avoid him.

One day, while running away from the unsuspecting Yoon Chan, Min Jae bumps into his professor, who then introduces him to a new student in their faculty, a music major and freshman named Woo Hyuk. The professor reminds Min Jae of Yoon Chan when he inquires about his well-being and if anyone is bothering him. As they stroll around the university, the professor asks Min Jae and Woo Hyuk to help each other, seeing that they are both music majors. Sometime later, Min Jae is peacefully eating his sandwich at the school field when an excited Yoon Chan arrives and starts talking to him again. Yoon Chan also remarks that their frequent encounters seem predetermined, prompting Min Jae to wonder if their fate is to be together. To Min Jae’s surprise, Yoon Chan once again asks him to be friends and starts getting closer to him; he ends up putting his sandwich between them to set a distance. Yoon Chan innocently takes a bite and says that they should eat together as friends; he also ends up finishing Min Jae’s sandwich. On the other hand, Min Jae further concludes that Yoon Chan is as weird as he first thought. In passing, Yoon Chan mentions that Min Jae’s eyes remind him of the sparkling lights at the bus stops in front of the university, making Min Jae feel offended until Yoon Chan clarifies that it’s because he finds those lights beautiful. Just as Min Jae remembers that Yoon Chan left his wallet in the library, Yoon Chan is already hurrying to catch up with his team’s meetup.

That afternoon, Yoon Chan receives a message from Min Jae telling him that he forgot his wallet at the library. Instead of picking it up directly from the library, Yoon Chan invites Min Jae to dinner together in a cafe to buy him something tasty. Yoon Chan’s persistence in making Min Jae talk to him in an informal way begins to pay off, as the latter finally begins to talk to him in a friendly manner. Yoon Chan admits that he doesn’t really have many friends and becomes excited at the thought that he can visit Min Jae at the library to hang out. Min Jae also ends up agreeing half-heartedly to hang out again. On their way out, Min Jae notices that the cafe is looking for part-timers and calls the number that evening to score an interview.

Episode 2 Can we become friends?

Believing they are now friends, Yoon Chan stays at the library more often. One day, as he excitedly greets Min Jae, who pranks him by refusing to talk to him again in an informal way, Woo Hyuk arrives and gets in between them. Woo Hyuk says he will borrow a book and talks politely to Min Jae, while Yoon Chan asks him to observe the line. However, Woo Hyuk responds that he has been observing Min Jae and Yoon Chan for a while and noticed that the latter appears to not be borrowing a book at all, which is why his line doesn’t make sense. The two are about to get into an argument when Min Jae tells them to stop. To Yoon Chan’s disappointment, Min Jae seems to be friendly with Woo Hyuk; however, his feelings instantly become lighter when Min Jae motions for him to come inside and sit by his side. As the two bicker around, Woo Hyuk overhears them and finds himself staring at him until Min Jae catches his gaze. Woo Hyuk silently walks away. Yoon Chan is helping Min Jae around when a student from his class arrives to return a book. The student curiously asks Yoon Chan why he is sitting on the librarian’s side, seemingly finding it hard to believe that he has made friends as he claims. Yoon Chan stares helplessly at Min Jae as the student continues to make comments about him being a loner. Min Jae tells the student that he is indeed friends with Yoon Chan, who is now smiling widely at the public acknowledgment of their friendship. Meanwhile, Woo Hyuk, who has returned to his room, can’t help but think of how comfortable Min Jae and Yoon Chan looked earlier that day in the library.

Yoon Chan continues to hang out with Min Jae in the library and helps him organize the bookshelves, thanks to his height. One time, Min Jae asks Yoon Chan if he is his only friend and makes the comment that it’s strange to only have one friend, but the latter says they are on the same boat anyway. Yoon Chan continues that he only needs one real friend in life before he pokes him in the stomach to make him laugh. As they wrestle each other in a friendly way, Yoon Chan ends up pulling Min Jae into a close hug. Just then, Min Jae notices that Woo Hyuk has arrived and will probably see them if they continue to stay put in their position. Min Jae pulls Yoon Chan, who is still holding onto him, to the floor to hide. The two end up holding onto their close position until Woo Hyuk leaves, before awkwardly pulling apart. Yoon Chan makes a comment on why they had to hide from Woo Hyuk, but Min Jae doesn’t answer and instead shifts the conversation.

Sometime later, Min Jae picks up his guitar to practice outside, where Yoon Chan unexpectedly finds him after he follows the music he hears from the taekwondo room. When Yoon Chan asks why Min Jae is practicing outside when they have a music room, the latter answers that he sometimes needs fresh air to breathe as he finds it hard to concentrate. Yoon Chan excitedly says that he knows a place where Min Jae should go instead. He also holds Min Jae’s hands tightly as he guides him towards the school rooftop, where they have a magnificent view of nature. He asks if Min Jae can play a song for him in exchange for bringing him there, but the latter says no as a joke and eventually plays for him. Yoon Chan watches Min Jae closely and finds himself tearing up. As Min Jae cradles his face to check the reason for his tears, Yoon Chan catches himself staring at the former intently and kissing him. For the two, who are now unable to look at each other, time stands still, and just as they are about to face each other, Woo Hyuk arrives and interrupts them. He reminds Min Jae of his promise to practice together, although he notices that the two people in front of him seem to be acting weird. To Woo Hyuk’s dismay, Min Jae politely tells him that he needs to talk to Yoon Chan privately, prompting him to excuse himself. After Woo Hyuk leaves, Min Jae asks Yoon Chan immediately why he kissed him, but only gets an excited chatter from him. With Min Jae at his back, Yoon Chan touches his lips happily, while the former begins to question the feelings he felt during the kiss.

On the other hand, Woo Hyuk dejectedly opens a can of drink.

Writer’s Thoughts:

We are starting strong with how strong the chemistry is, not only between Yoon Chan and Min Jae but also how well the love triangle comes off to us with Woo Hyuk on the scene. We can’t help but wonder what might be the reason for Min Jae’s constant lookout for part-time jobs and Yoon Chan’s absences from friends when he appears to be such a positive and easy-to-get-along-with person. On the other hand, Woo Hyuk who is giving us that one ball of sunshine aura also makes us curious about his real intentions with Min Jae, and we will be very honest, we loved those puppy eyes of his. It seems like we have many backstories to uncover so be sure to check all the episodes of ‘Blossom Campus’ currently streaming on GagaOOLala or better yet, stay tuned for our upcoming recaps!
