Episode 1: The repetition of coincidence is destiny!
Min Jae wanders around Hankuk University in search of the Arts and Music Faculty, where he must submit his papers in order to transfer his academic credits to the new semester. He runs into a male student, who then tells him to follow him so he can bring him there. To his surprise, the male student is a fast walker, making Min Jae incredibly exhausted by just running after him. Min Jae collapses on the ground to take a short break, and just as they reach the faculty’s building, the male student innocently points it at him. The next thing he knows, the male student is no longer within his sight.
Days later, Min Jae is organizing the books in the library as part of his duty when he notices a pile of books at the top of the shelf that he, unfortunately, cannot reach. He tips on his toes, but he still fails miserably until he feels someone so close to him reaching out for the books. Min Jae takes a look at his side and sees the male student who helped him the other day smiling at him widely as he hands him the books and then leaves. The next day, the male student appears in front of Min Jae again and starts a friendly conversation with him about the exams coming up. Min Jae is surprised by the male student’s friendliness, which prompts him to offer assistance through the school mobile app in return. The male student awkwardly introduces himself as Yoon Chan, a taekwondo student, and tells Min Jae that everyone calls him Chan instead. Yoon Chan then curiously asks Min Jae what his major was before he transferred to their faculty and says that it would be nice if they could be friends, given that they are the same age. When Min Jae hesitates to answer, Yoon Chan chuckles in an awkwardly loud voice, making the former remind him that they are in the library. Before leaving the librarian’s desk, Yoon Chan tells Min Jae that he is a good person, and that there is probably nothing to lose if they become friends. In the end, Min Jae watches Yoon Chand leave with a small smile on his face, until he notices that the latter left his wallet and figures out that it will probably be picked up later. For some reason, the wallet reminded Min Jae of his close encounter with Yoon Chan the day before, and he found himself unable to sleep that night. He hopes not to meet Yoon Chan again, as he finds his feelings weird when the other is around. To Min Jae’s utter frustration, Yoon Chan seems to be everywhere, although he does his best to avoid him.
One day, while running away from the unsuspecting Yoon Chan, Min Jae bumps into his professor, who then introduces him to a new student in their faculty, a music major and freshman named Woo Hyuk. The professor reminds Min Jae of Yoon Chan when he inquires about his well-being and if anyone is bothering him. As they stroll around the university, the professor asks Min Jae and Woo Hyuk to help each other, seeing that they are both music majors. Sometime later, Min Jae is peacefully eating his sandwich at the school field when an excited Yoon Chan arrives and starts talking to him again. Yoon Chan also remarks that their frequent encounters seem predetermined, prompting Min Jae to wonder if their fate is to be together. To Min Jae’s surprise, Yoon Chan once again asks him to be friends and starts getting closer to him; he ends up putting his sandwich between them to set a distance. Yoon Chan innocently takes a bite and says that they should eat together as friends; he also ends up finishing Min Jae’s sandwich. On the other hand, Min Jae further concludes that Yoon Chan is as weird as he first thought. In passing, Yoon Chan mentions that Min Jae’s eyes remind him of the sparkling lights at the bus stops in front of the university, making Min Jae feel offended until Yoon Chan clarifies that it’s because he finds those lights beautiful. Just as Min Jae remembers that Yoon Chan left his wallet in the library, Yoon Chan is already hurrying to catch up with his team’s meetup.
That afternoon, Yoon Chan receives a message from Min Jae telling him that he forgot his wallet at the library. Instead of picking it up directly from the library, Yoon Chan invites Min Jae to dinner together in a cafe to buy him something tasty. Yoon Chan’s persistence in making Min Jae talk to him in an informal way begins to pay off, as the latter finally begins to talk to him in a friendly manner. Yoon Chan admits that he doesn’t really have many friends and becomes excited at the thought that he can visit Min Jae at the library to hang out. Min Jae also ends up agreeing half-heartedly to hang out again. On their way out, Min Jae notices that the cafe is looking for part-timers and calls the number that evening to score an interview.
