A man violently confronts another man in a parking lot and does not notice the arrival of Chi Soo, a professional hitman known as ‘Flying Dagger’. Chi Soo kills both and reports the success of his mission to his foster father, the leader of the gang, who is also known as Black Rose. At home, he scrubs the blood off his body and is reminded of when he was mercilessly bullied as a teenager for being homosexual and an orphan. After being brutally beaten in the boy’s bathroom, a stranger intervened to help him and offered him a white handkerchief with a black rose embroidered on it to clean up the mess. Later, the savior would adopt him as his son and teach him to be a hitman.

Chi Soo meets with Black Leopard, his adopted uncle, who is currently at war with Black Rose, to devise a strategy.

On the other side of the city, Gi Tae, a devoted reader of a crime-themed web novel authored by an unidentified author known only as Black Rose, enthusiastically mails the author under the alias “Wild Dog” to express his delight over the most recent chapter. Black Rose, who is also Chi Soo, responds and makes a suggestion that they meet up. Gi Tae imagines himself and Black Rose intimately. The next day, Chi Soo runs into Gi Tae in a convenience store by mistake and is immediately attracted to him. However, he brushes it off and walks away, only to run into Gi Tae again in a restaurant that he frequents. The two recognize each other from their earlier encounter in the store. The author and the reader plan to meet up in a cafe but get canceled when Chi Soo’s father calls him for an emergency. That evening, he visits the restaurant again to eat his usual meal when he sees Gi Tae closing up for his sister and part ways after a casual greeting. Chi Soo calls “Wild Dog” to apologize for their abrupt cancellation, to his surprise, his voice echoes from the other side and he sees Gi Tae holding his own mobile. They realize that they are Black Rose and Wild Dog. Gi Tae hugs Chi Soo excitedly, who winces when the former accidentally hit an injured arm. Gi Tae volunteers to treat the wound in Chi Soo’s apartment, where the two spent intimate time together.

Gi Tae and Chi Soo begin dating, and the latter even introduces the former to his sister, who requests that the author look after his cherished brother. The two discover Chi Soo’s foster father at home one evening. When the father and son are left alone, the actual Black Rose commands his son to murder the Black Leopard, which the latter declines to execute. This infuriates his foster father, who reminds him of how he protected him from bullies and how everything he has comes from him.

In the meantime, Gi Tae emerges from Black Leopard’s card, revealing that he is also a hitman who works under the alias “Wild Dog”. His sister calls Gi Tae at home since she sees how anxious he is. When his brother mentioned that Gi Tae’s love was reciprocated, his sister—who initially believed Chi Soo had dumped Gi Tae—felt relieved.

Black Leopard and Black Rose agree to settle, but both appear to have secret plans in mind. Chi Soo infiltrates and beats his uncle’s security until a mysterious masked person arrives to fight him. The two are in close combat when Chi Soo manages to remove the mask of his opponent, who is revealed to be Gi Tae, who runs right away. They see each other again, and Gi Tae apologizes to Chi Soo, but the latter feels betrayed by the very first person he trusted. Gi Tae admits approaching Chi Soo with the intent to kill him but falls in love with him instead and begs for forgiveness; the two embrace as a sign of reconciliation.

Black Rose finds out that his adopted son’s boyfriend is a hitman for his brother and decides to plot revenge. He orders Chi Soo to corner him and breaks his phone, cutting off communication between the boyfriends. The following day, Gi Tae is unable to contact Chi Soo but receives a call instructing him to go to an abandoned place. Chi Soo, who actually survived, visits the restaurant to see Gi Tae but finds out from his sister that he went out after worrying about him. Chi Soo realizes that someone must have baited him. He goes to an abandoned building and sees Gi Tae tied and beaten. As he helps Gi Tae, Black Rose appears and mocks Chi Soo by calling him a dog and a piece of trash. Fed up with his foster father, Chi Soo tells him that he will now make choices on his own. The two spar with their fists and daggers until Chi Soo manages to gravely wound his foster father. He throws away the handkerchief given to him after wiping off the blood and helps Gi Tae stand up. The two walk out while Black Leopard continues to scream profanity at them. Outside, Chi Soo and Gi Tae share a kiss.

The movie ends with Chi Soo, Gi Tae, and Gi Tae’s sister taking a family photo.

Writer’s Thoughts:

Overall, the movie is a welcome change from today’s typical school or office romance in BL. It is packed with enough romance and action to meet the genre they decided to pursue. The effective acting and chemistry of Chi Soo and Gi Tae make up for the rough edges left in the plot due to the limited time of the movie and all the possible points they want to show. If you’re seeking something quick and fresh in your eyes, ‘Long Time No See’ is definitely a good choice.
