A New Life And Borrowed Life in ‘Ossan’s Love Returns’ EP7

Ossan's Love Returns

Haruta and Maki finally got married! Although it’s good news for the newlyweds, there seems to be looming bad news because of Chief Kurosawa’s condition. What will happen to them? Let’s find out in ‘Ossan’s Love Returns‘ episode 7.

Ossan's Love Returns

Maki and Haruta spend a calm morning together looking through their wedding photos. They reminisce about the good times they had together with their loved ones, not knowing that Chief Kurosawa was coughing blood in the toilet. The two, then, went to their respective offices where Haruta’s colleagues, in particular, congratulated him on his wedding ceremony. Izumi, on the other hand, was not feeling celebratory because he just realized his feelings for Haruta. He once again sought Takegawa’s expertise regarding moving on, but Takegawa gave a piece of advice about “sharing” which further confused him.

It was more chaotic at Maki’s office, however, because Chizu suddenly fainted! Maki called Haruta, who just finished showing someone a house with Izumi, and told him about the situation. Chizu asked if they could also pick up her son, Goro, from school because her brother, who helps out with taking care of her son, was out of town. Haruta agreed immediately and was about to rush off to pick up Goro when Izumi stopped him and asked him, out of the blue, what Maki was to him. Haruta said that Maki is someone he wants to spend the rest of his life with and that he is everything to him. Haruta, then, rushes to pick Goro up. But it wasn’t easy for Haruta at all because Goro is a naughty kid! Despite being a handful, however, Haruta and Maki let Goro stay at their place while Chizu recuperates at the hospital.

Speaking of hospitals, Chief Kurosawa finally found the time to get a check-up and the doctor told him that his illness was brought about by stress, but he doesn’t trust the doctor’s diagnosis too much. He sees Chizu at the same hospital and they talk for a bit. Chizu tells him about her own worries about not doing enough, especially for her son. She cried at Chief Kurosawa’s shoulder, with Chief Kurosawa telling her everything’s going to be okay.

The next day, Maki was worried about fetching Goro at the nursery, seeing as he doesn’t really like kids that much. But he really doesn’t have anything to worry about because even though Goro was a handful, going around the playground by himself, he still managed to pick him up and Goro rested peacefully in his arms after a tiring day. Chief Kurosawa was back to his work by cleaning Haruto and Maki’s house when Maki arrived with Goro. Chief Kurosawa was great with the playful Goro, and everyone was sleeping by the time Haruta came home. As they were chatting with Teppei, Chizu’s brother, Haruta mistakenly told them that Chizu was at the hospital (even though Chizu told them not to tell the vacationers). The newlyweds, then, visited Chizu the next day together with Goro. The naughty kid was not as playful at the hospital, and even wiped his mom’s shoes, probably in an attempt to make her feel better. Teppei and his family arrived at the hospital, to Chizu’s surprise, making everyone cry about how they should always know important issues because they are a family of six.

It seems to be a hospital day because Izumi also received a call that Kiku was rushed to the hospital after being injured from an encounter with their mission. Izumi made a commotion when the hospital staff would not allow him inside because he was not “family”. This angered him even more. But after patching Kiku up, he finally meets him at the hospital rooftop where they talk and Kiku informs him that they finally apprehended the people behind Akito’s death. Kiku finally got enough courage and kissed Izumi, confessing that he has loved him for a while, stunning Izumi.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the hospital, Chief Kurosawa, accompanied by his ex-wife Choko, sought for second opinion from another hospital about his illness. The doctor looked at his X-ray and stated that he was worried about a shadowy appearance in the X-ray. Chief Kurosawa asked what it could mean, but the doctor told him that they probably needed to do more tests to confirm what it was. However, after doing the other tests, the doctor informed him that he only had one month left to live!

Oblivious to Chief Kurosawa’s health issues, Maki and Haruto hold hands as they go home after visiting Chizu at the hospital and dropping Goro off, too. Maki admits to Haruto that he was actually afraid that Haruto may change his mind about having children, which could make them break up. However, Haruto said that he probably won’t change his mind, but that he knows that having a family is whatever the two of them make it to be— whether it be just the two of them or if they ever decide to adopt a pet. After all, family is what you choose to have in your life, and the two of them chose to have each other forever.

But what will happen once the two find out about Chief Kurosawa’s health? Will things get more complicated within their chosen family? Is Chief Kurosawa really only going to live for one more month?! Say it isn’t so!!! Let’s find out in the next episode of ‘Ossan’s Love Returns‘.
