Thai Actor Phuwin Tangsakyuen Issues Apology After a Livestream Clip Resurfaces

Phuwin Tangsakyuen, known for his lead roles in BL series ‘Fish Upon the Sky’ and ‘Never Let Me Go’, as well as his role as the voice of Lifeweaver in the video game Overwatch 2, was recently called out by fans after a now-deleted tweet showed an old clip from when Phuwin used to livestream himself playing video games.

Said clip caused controversy as Phuwin was heard referring to the character in the game as an “ADHD r*tard.” Many fans were disappointed or even angered by his use of a slur, claiming that he should have known better, especially considering that Phuwin is fluent in English and should therefore be familiar with the meaning such words hold. Phuwin responded quickly, uploading an apology in English to his Twitter account, in which he said that he was ashamed of what he had done, not only now, but also directly after the incident occurred on stream.

After this apology, some fans stated that while it may not have been their place to accept the apology, as they did not have ADHD or other similar conditions, they were appreciative of the fact that Phuwin responded to the issue quickly and did not try to make excuses for his actions. Other fans clarified through quote retweets of Phuwin’s apology that he had actually already apologized during the stream itself, making this the second time he has addressed the incident.
