Ransom, Romance, And Everything In Between Make For A Messy Mix In ‘Kidnap’ Episodes 3-4!

With the money secured, James and Min begin to plan their return of the money. The person who hired them agreed to the meeting, but insisted they bring Q along. They decide against it, though saying it would be too risky and go to meet him without Q. The meeting goes awry, as their excuses for leaving Q behind fail to satisfy their hirer, Phum, with him pointing a gun at them. Luckily for them, however, Q secretly followed them. This is when it is revealed that Phum put the bounty on Q’s head as a way to get revenge on Q’s father for arresting his son, Pond, as part of an ongoing investigation. Q bravely faces the gun being pointed at his head, asking Phum if he thinks this is what Pond would want. Overcome by emotion, Phum points the gun at himself, but Q stops him from shooting himself right in time. The episode closes with Q, clearly shaken by the gunshot as Min comforts him and agrees to demand ransom from his father.

Episode 4 – Family Ties

With the plan set in motion, Min leaves a ransom note at Q’s house. We see Q’s father reading it, seemingly pondering on his next course of action as the opening credits roll once again.

From the start of the episode, Min and Q clearly seem closer to each other than they were before, bantering before going to sleep. It is also here that Min notices Q’s aversion to the sound of gunfire, reminding him of Q’s distress after the events of the previous episode.

Min and Q accompany Mhen to the hospital, where he gets his cast removed, but the happy moment is interrupted by Suea calling Min to work. He leaves Mhen in Q and Khanomjeen’s care as he heads to work. In his absence, the trio watch a movie that Min did stunts for, with Khanomjeen getting excited over Min’s scenes. During all the excitement of the movie, Q quickly realizes Mhen has a crush on Khanomjeen. He comes up with a plan to help Mhen show off to her by teaching him to ride a motorcycle like Min did in the movie. While the three of them had a great time going out so Mhen could learn to bike, Min is less than happy about this, scolding them when he gets back out of concern for Mhen’s condition. Mhen is the most frustrated of the three about Min’s reaction, storming out of the dining room and into his bedroom, refusing to speak to Min, despite his pleading. Q and Min then trade harsh words, with Q justifying how they had to let Mhen live and have fun while Min stood firm on his insistence on prioritizing safety.

Things take a turn for the worse, though, when Min finds Mhen unconscious in his room and they take him to the hospital. Luckily, though, it was unrelated to his heart condition and just a cold. With Mhen regaining consciousness, Min takes the opportunity to apologize to Mhen and Khanomjeen for lashing out at them. They even show Min a video of Mhen on the motorcycle, where Q comments about how Min’s little brother is now cooler than him. Mhen reminds him to apologize to Q, too, but Min still seems hesitant. His actions show his concern for Q, though, when Q comes down with a fever, too, and Min takes charge in caring for him, even letting him wear the shirt he was protective over in previous episodes since Mhen bought it for him. It’s then that Q and Min have a heartfelt conversation where Q tells Min about how Mhen appreciates him even if he’s strict, knowing that it’s for his own safety and reassures Min that he’s a good brother.

The next day, Min, Q, Mhen, and Khanomjeen watch a movie together, with Min covering Q’s ears during the scenes with gunfire, a callback to the beginning of the episode where we learn of Q being afraid of that sound.

We also get to see a nightmare of fragmented memories from Q from three years ago with him looking distressed and running through a cornfield at night. He wakes up in shock, but is calmed my Min’s presence next to him. The episode then closes with the reveal that Q’s father had someone secretly keeping an eye on Q before getting a call from Phum about evidence proving his son’s innocence. There are also a couple of extra scenes showing off the warm dynamic between Q and the two brothers he’s been living with from eating together to helping Min rehearse his scenes, with Q and Min even being inches away from a kiss as the credits roll.
