An Unexpected Romance Begins To Bloom Between A Kidnapper And His Victim In ‘Kidnap’ Episodes 1-2!

Ohm Pawat and Leng Thanapon’s new series ‘Kidnap’ has finally begun airing! Let’s quickly review how Min and Q’s story began before episode 3 airs!

Kidnap

Episode 1 – An Action-Packed Introduction

Like any good story, ‘Kidnap’ starts by introducing its main cast. First, we meet Min, a stuntman struggling to make ends meet, who serves as one of the series leads. There’s also his younger brother, Mhen, who Min cares for deeply. Mhen’s health issues have put quite a strain on their family’s finances, though. We also meet Khanomjeen, a friend of the brothers, and James, Min’s friend from work. The other half of the lead couple, Q, is first introduced to viewers when Min, on the way to a job application, gets into an altercation with Q, who accidentally spills his drink on Min. In return, Min accidentally pulls on a thread from Q’s shirt, causing it to unravel. Little did they know this was only the start of their complicated story together.

Following this, it was also revealed that Q’s father is a law enforcer, known for his bravery in bringing criminals to justice. It doesn’t seem that Q fully approves of his father’s line of work, though and their relationship appears strained.

Desperate for funds, Min takes on James’ offer to join him on a job involving real guns, unlike the props they’ve been working with on set. It is here that we get a quick glimpse of Suea, a rich man with shady dealings, who hasn’t gotten much screen time yet but will likely be a more prominent character in future episodes. The job these two are about to take on is then revealed to be a kidnapping and the victim is none other than Q. The duo begin stalking Q at the mall he frequents, trying to find the right time to kidnap him. This sequence even includes a few humorous scenes like Min signaling to James that they should split up, while James mistakes it as a signal to get ice cream. Who said criminals can’t treat themselves to something sweet?

Min’s sympathy for Q may have also begun forming around this time when he observed his soon-to-be victim at a music shop playing music on the instruments on sale. Q seems to have plucked both the strings of the guitar in his hands and the heartstrings of the man who would later spare his life – but more on that in a bit. Min expresses his hesitation, but James reminds him that he has no choice, especially since he has ruthless debt collectors after him.

The two find the opportune moment to strike when Q ends up drunk. The intoxicated Q sweetly gives out flowers to everyone in his vicinity, even mistaking Min for someone asking for a flower. Much to his dismay, though, he finds himself knocked out and by the time he wakes up, he’s already been kidnapped. This then leads to the pivotal moment of the episode: Min is ordered to pull the trigger and kill Q. Unable to do it, he points the gun away from Q, instructing him to keep quiet to conceal how he spared his victim.

Episode 2 – A Messy Live-In Situation

With Q being pronounced “dead”, Min had to hide him in his house to keep him safe. Like any kidnapping victim would, though, Q tried to escape. Then tried again. And again. And again. Surely, you get the picture. Once Min gets Q’s cooperation to stage his death, the two begin their complicated co-habitation, filled with quarrels ranging from Q’s multiple escape attempts to comedically petty arguments over which of Min’s shirts Q is allowed to wear.

Throughout Q’s not-so-voluntary stay at Min’s place, his sleepwalking disorder, which had previously gone away, resurfaced, forcing Min to learn how to care for a sleepwalker. It was also here that we got more glimpses into Q’s relationship with his father, as he called out for him during one of his nightmares. Things get further complicated when Mhen comes home from the hospital to find Min pinning Q down on the bed, mistaking Min’s attempt at restraining Q as a sexual encounter. Min plays it off as Q also being a stuntman, claiming they were simply rehearsing a scene and Q plays along. Mhen did comment on Q being Min’s type, though, so perhaps he wasn’t fully convinced.

Mhen and Q got along decently well, with Min even leaving the two together when he left for the house, but this backfired when Q escaped while Min was away. Min went everywhere to find him, even showing up to Q’s door under the guise of being a delivery rider, but his search got him nowhere. Q eventually made his way home, getting into a fight with his dad over how he continued to pursue dangerous cases, putting himself in harm’s way and how his father’s work seemed to be more important to him than their family, especially since he didn’t even notice that Q was missing for multiple days. It was then that Q returned to Min’s place. With the knowledge that Min only did what he had to pay for Mhen’s medical bills, Q proposed a plan to Min: to use Q as bait to demand ransom from his father.

That’s where the episode ends, but more is definitely on the way!
