Sofia is surprised to see Shun Yu and Shang Zhou exit the elevator at the same time and teases Shun Yu as soon as they are alone. She explains that Shang Zhou treats Shun Yu differently from them. She also states that a president will not look after a subordinate or drive them to and from work. She then concludes that Shun Yu is special to Shang Zhou. Shun Yu couldn’t help but think of all the times Shang Zhou had treated him well, such as sending him home when he was sick or looking for him when he was kidnapped. Later that day, Shang Zhou calls him to his office, where food has been placed on the table by his driver. Knowing that Shun Yu will decline his invitation to eat with him and also knowing that he does not want to waste food, Shang Zhou lies and tells him that his driver bought too much food so he can just eat it. Meanwhile, not wanting anything to go to waste, Shun Yu offers to bring the other secretaries to eat with them. Frustrated, Shang Zhou stops him and orders him to sit and eat with him instead. After settling down, Shang Zhou becomes serious and tells Shun Yu that he does not want to be perceived as a bad boss and that, while he can be stern, he also knows how to appreciate his employees. Part of that includes assisting Shun Yu, who has been injured as a result of his actions. He also reminds him not to do everything on his own. Shun Yu, moved by Shang Zhou’s words, smiles and teases him that it’s the first time he’s heard him say so many words at once before they start to enjoy their meals.
That afternoon, Shun Yu receives a phone call from his mother, who learns about the mistaken kidnapping and immediately tells him to quit his job and return home. Vice President Lee, unbeknownst to him, accidentally overhears their conversation. Back at Shang Zhou’s office, an employee is being scolded for entering an incorrect amount on one of the invoices. Shun Yu enters and tells the employee to leave so he can deal with Shang Zhou. When Shang Zhou sees Shun Yu next to the employee who made the mistake, he immediately calms down and lets the other employee go. When they are alone again, the two exchange knowing glances before Shun Yu approaches Shang Zhou’s table to begin working on some of his papers. Shang Zhou asks Shun Yu if he thinks he’s being mean, but Shun Yu simply responds that at least he didn’t scold him to the point where he wanted to quit on his first day. Shang Zhou immediately stands up from his chair when he hears the word quit and asks Shun Yu why he would quit when he is such a great boss to him. To Shang Zhou’s surprise, Shun Yu retaliates and responds that he is the one who is being a great secretary, to the point where he feels like a babysitter rather than a secretary, resulting in him falling back into his chair. Shun Yu gets close to Shang Zhou while getting the papers from his paper and tells him to let some things go, such as checking even the smallest piece of paper. Shang Zhou reasons that he cannot make a mistake because his mother is constantly watching him. Shun Yu reminds him that his mother is unaware of his sleeping troubles or the emotional burden he is carrying. When Shang Zhou hears the word sleep, he decides to ask Shun Yu to move in with him and reasons out that sleeping beside him has given him the best sleep he’s had in a long time. He tries to entice him with free food, free rent, and even security, knowing how frugal Shun Yu is. Meanwhile, an overwhelmed Shun Yu becomes concerned that Shang Zhou may be viewing him as a pet. Shang Zhou then moves closer to his ear, whispering that he will wait for his response before gently touching his other ear, the one he kissed the night before.
Just then, Vice President Lee walks into Shang Zhou’s office and notices Shun Yu leaving the room. He remarks that Shang Zhou appears to find Shun Yu satisfactory and reminds him to be nice to him because he is not an easy person to work with. Offended, Shang Zhou asks if he isn’t being nice by giving Shun Yu a bonus, knowing how much he loves money. Vice President Lee responds that money does not solve everything and tells him that Shun Yu only wants money to give his parents a better life, but what if his parents find out about the mistaken kidnapping and form a negative opinion of Shang Zhou? He then exits the room, leaving Shang Zhou to mull over his words.
Meanwhile, Shun Yu and the secretaries are discussing the upcoming company trip, which will be decided once again by Shang Zhou. The secretaries wish it was a five-star hotel and a hot spring day instead of their annual mountain hike. The secretaries try to persuade Shun Yu to suggest the hotel and hot spring instead, knowing that Shang Zhou treats him differently. Later, they are called to Shang Zhou’s office, where he informs them that they will be going on a mountain hike, much to everyone’s dismay. The secretaries persuade Shun Yu to stay at the hotel instead, believing that Shang Zhou will listen to him. Under duress, Shun Yu asks Shang Zhou if they can do that instead, as he has never done it before. Shang Zhou then immediately says yes, much to everyone’s delight. As Shun Yu smiles at him while being hugged by the other secretaries, Shang Zhou realizes that making Shun Yu happy feels addicting to him and that he wants to give him more.
The next day, Shang Zhou wakes up in Shun Yu’s bed, and as he stares at him, he realizes that Shun Yu is not perfect physically and he acts recklessly at times, but for some reason, everything about him also makes him feel awesome. He almost kisses him but stops himself and gets up from the bed, thinking that sleeping in Shun Yu’s bed is becoming addictive as well and that he needs to find a way to stop.
Writer’s Thoughts
If it hasn’t already been stated, Shang Zhou is quickly becoming one of our favorite male leads thanks to the way he boldly expresses his feelings for Shun Yu, though he might need a little help from Vice President Lee to get his message across. Meanwhile, the series opens with a possible conflict in how Shun Yu’s parents may be against him continuing to work for Shang Zhou after the kidnapping fiasco, and knowing that our innocent secretary is very close to his parents, this may actually pose a threat to the two’s developing relationship. Let’s see how the mouse continues to be played on by the cat, or is it the other way around? Keep an eye out for ‘You Are Mine’ episode 7 on October 20th!
