WATCH: Trailer Is Out For Sapphic Teen Sex Comedy ‘Bottoms’

The trailer for the queer high school teen sex comedy ‘Bottoms’ is finally here — and we’re so seated!

‘Bottoms’ tells the story of two high school senior girls who set up a fight club so they could impress and eventually hook up with cheerleaders. It will star Rachel Sennott (‘Shiva Baby’) as PJ and Ayo Edebiri (‘Big Mouth’) as Josie. The two have been best friends since first grade, but as they enter their senior year in high school, they realize that they’re pretty much at the bottom of the food chain — losers, lonely, and lesbians. Their solution to their problem? A fight club.

It originally premiered at the SXSW Film Festival on March 11, and it will hit cinemas on August 25.

Aside from Sennott and Edebiri, ‘Bottoms’ will also star Marshawn Lynch (‘Murderville’), Ruby Cruz (‘Castle Rock’ Havana Rose Liu (‘No Exit’), Kaia Gerber (‘American Horror Story’), and ‘Red, White, & Royal Blue’ prince Nicholas Galitzine as supporting actors.

Since its release, ‘Bottoms’ has received generally positive reviews. Rolling Stone described it as “the horniest, bloodiest high school movie of the 21st century” while IndieWire said it is “hilariously weird” but still tells “a rather poignant story about female friendship and empowerment.” Daily Beast said it “makes no sense — that’s why it’s so wildly brilliant.” On Rotten Tomatoes, it has so far gotten 96% approval with 24 reviews.

‘Bottoms’ was directed by Emma Seligman who also co-wrote the script alongside Sennott. It was produced by Max Handelman, Alison Small, and Elizabeth Banks.
