Director Samantha Lee has dropped the second teaser for the sporty sapphic film ‘Rookie.’
Lee posted a 30-second teaser on her social media accounts with the caption “Take a deep breath…and then release. #RookieFilm August 4-13, 2023”.
In the video, veteran actress Agot Isidro plays the volleyball coach as she guides the rookie, Ace (played by Pat Tingjuy). Ace is an awkward 6-footer teen who is forced to learn and play volleyball half-heartedly when the Catholic school she transferred to did not have a basketball team but her whole life eventually changes when she meets the team’s star player. Isidro’s character shares that the key to good service is similar to a free throw. One needs to take a deep breath and then release, she adds.
“Successful blocks in basketball and volleyball are exactly the same. Hands up, Ace,” Isidro says.
The teaser features clips of Tingjuy and her on-screen partner, Aya Fernandez (Stand-in Love), sharing sweet moments like the two comparing hand sizes, standing in an almost kiss as Fernandez has her hands wrapped around Tingjuy’s neck, and many more that will surely excite sapphic fans.
