WATCH: ‘My Animal’ Teases Sapphic Werewolf Romance in Hair-Raising Trailer

My Animal

‘My Animal’ has released its hair-raising trailer for the sapphic werewolf romance thriller that will tickle the fantasies of furries and non-furries alike. Wink, wink.

If you are looking for a supernatural movie that will fulfill your queer fanfiction fantasies, look no further because Paramount’s new film is bringing you that and more.

The trailer for ‘My Animal’ shows the journey of Bobbi Salvör Menuez (Euphoria) as Heather, a werewolf doomed to live a secluded life on the outskirts of a small town. When Heather falls for the rebellious Jonny (played by Amandla Stenberg of ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies’), it threatens to reveal Heather’s suppressed desires and unleash the animal within.

Watch the intriguing trailer here:

The official synopsis says, “Tamped down by an oppressive family dynamic orbiting around her alcoholic mother, kept on the sidelines of the hockey team she yearns to join, and imprisoned in her own home each full moon, Heather is in a struggle for her life against the constrictive forces in her small northern town. When an intriguing figure skater enters the rink, Heather’s life, sexuality, and personhood are pried open. Jonny (Stenberg) and Heather (Menuez) have bombastic chemistry that plays out on screen with attitude, style, and ferocity. Far from the typical werewolf story, Heather’s condition is one of many reasons for her outcast status. Luckily, Jonny is happy to join her on the outskirts.”

‘My Animal’ is directed by Jacqueline Castel, written by Jae Matthews, and produced by Andrew Bronfman (‘The Kid Detective’) and Michael Solomon (‘Black Conflux’). It was first screened at Sundance earlier in the year and will be in select theaters on September 8 and then on Digital from September 15.
