WATCH: Hull-Shaking Trailer For ‘Our Flag Means Death’ Season 2 Sets Sail

Our Flag Means Death

Ahoy, mates! The hull-shaking trailer from the second season of the queer pirate series ‘Our Flag Means Death’ starring Taika Waititi and Rhys Darby has set sail!

Max has released the trailer for the hit pirate series following where season 1 left off with Blackbeard (played by Waititi) believing that Stede (played by Darby) had fully abandoned him which leads him to turn against some of Stede’s crew and re-embrace his dangerous side.

The trailer starts off with a heartbroken Stede tossing a letter in a bottle into the ocean as Prince’s “The Beautiful Ones” plays in the background. Meanwhile, Blackbeard goes about his heartbreak in a completely menacing way. As the trailer progresses, we see more of the rag-tag crew that fans have missed as well as new faces introduced.

Watch the trailer here:

‘Our Flag Means Death’ is very loosely based on the real-life adventures of affluent Stede Bonnet who decides to trade his life on land for that in the sea. Bonnet eventually captains his own ship and pirate crew although he struggles to fully gain their respect. The tides turn for Bonnet after he meets the infamous pirate Blackbeard, which sparks an unexpected friendship that leads to romance.

The gay pirate series was created by David Jenkins, who acts as the showrunner, and executive producer. He also directed the first two episodes of the second season. It is also executive-produced by Waititi, Garrett Basch, Dan Halsted, Adam Stein, and Antoine Douaihy.

Season two premieres with three episodes on Max on Thursday, October 5 before resuming to showing two episodes a week until the season finale on Thursday, October 26.
