Ahoy, fans! The first stills from the second season of ‘Our Flag Means Death’ starring Taika Waititi and Rhys Darby have been released.
Vanity Fair has released the exclusive first photos of the hit gay romantic comedy series including photos of the two lovers, the gentleman-turned-pirate Stede Bonnet (played by Darby) and the infamous pirate captain Blackbeard (played by Waititi) in all their swashbuckling glory.

We get to see our favorite characters like Spanish Jackie (Leslie Jones) and the Revenge crew like Roach (Samba Schutte) among others! The new cast members include Madeleine Sami and Anapela Polataivao (who is said to join the pirate crew this season), Ruibo Qian (who will play the mysterious merchant Susan), and we also have Minnie Driver who plays the legendary pirate Anne Bonney in the series!

Vico Ortiz, who plays the nonbinary pirate Jim, said in the article that their character will really grow this season, with him being a bit more “conversational” and having a “bit more zaniness and a bit more softness.”
They also shared about seeing the fans’ reaction to the show, and its queer characters, saying it’s “beautiful” to see people finding a community with the fanbase because it is about “creating spaces where we feel safe and seen. Ortiz also said that many guys can relate to the vulnerability shown by the male characters in the show.
The article also promised a bigger and more impressive season two, with more sets, more costumes, and more characters than the first season.
“The viewers will see the scope of their world has expanded based on the fact we’re able to get to these amazing locations within a short travel time. You will notice a marked difference between the two seasons in terms of the scope and the scale,” executive producer Antoine Douaihy said.
‘Our Flag Means Death’ season 2 premiers on Max this October.
