We’re a step closer to the film’s international release!
The first clip of ‘Queer’ was released in celebration of the film’s premiere at the 2024 Venice Film Festival!
The 40s is alive and bustling in the background of Daniel Craig’s character Lee with his hat and clear glasses as he walks towards a bar. He takes a seat and immediately gulps down a shot of an unnamed clear hard liquor like its water. He absentmindedly waves at the two guys who are amusedly staring at him. His demeanor visibly changes, one that is akin to vulnerability, once he sees Eugene (Drew Starkey) sitting handsomely and comfortably in the corner of the bar who nods at him in return for his attention while chugging his beer. Lee awkwardly stands up and bows hoping to get a rise out of Eugene but the latter only scoffs at his comic display of behavior. Lee is disappointed at this and goes back to his shot while the guys beside him scoff at his awkwardness. However, a lady starts talking to Eugene. They seem to have a pleasant conversation, to Lee’s annoyance. He scoffs and leaves the bar irritated.

Although this scene didn’t really give us any dialogue between the two leads, the dynamic has been shown very clearly. This (without spoiling anything) will serve as the basis of what’s to come to Lee and Eugene’s character and will give nuance to their apparent age difference.
