A reimagining of the 2006 Christmas classic “The Holiday” is soon coming to our screens starring Rick Cosnett of ‘The Flash’, and this time, it’s going to be queer!
Titled ‘The Holiday Exchange’, this LGBTQ film will be about a successful businessman who grapples with a break-up and a sold company. Cosnett, who is also known for his role as Eddie Thawne in the CW superhero series ‘The Flash’, will play the role of Oliver, a small-town heartthrob who exchanges houses for the holidays through an LGBT+ app with businessman Wilde (to be played by Taylor Frey). Both end up meeting handsome locals (to be played by Samer Salem and Daniel Garcia) in their respective places, spicing up their visits.
‘The Holiday Exchange’ is penned by Frey and will be directed by Jake Helgren.
Other members of the cast include Kyle Richards (‘Halloween’ and ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’), Camila Banus (‘Days of Our Lives’), Nick Adams (‘Fire Island’), Ashley Fink (‘Glee’), and Kyle Dean Massey (‘Nashville’).
Both the lead actors are openly gay. Cosnett came out in 2013 while Frey is married to actor Massey who is also part of this upcoming film. Frey and Massey also starred in Helgren’s ‘A Christmas to Treasure’ which was recently nominated for a GLAAD award for outstanding TV movie.
‘The Holiday Exchange’ will be produced by Frey, Massey, and Helgren under Frey and Massey’s new production company, High Tea Productions.
There is no announced date yet for its release, but we’re hoping it will be out in time for the Yuletide season!
