‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ actors Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine get candid as to what it is like to film their intimate scenes together.
In an interview with GQ, stars Zakhar Perez and Galitzine of the upcoming gay rom-com shared that to fight the awkwardness of being surrounded by the film crew, they would often whisper jokes and try to make each other laugh.
“Our guards were down during the rehearsals, but as soon as someone would yell ‘cut’? One of us would say something stupid, like, ‘Get off me!’” Zakhar Perez said.
Furthermore, Robbie Taylor Hunt, the movie’s intimacy coordinator, said that while the two actors teased each other often, it never really went too far, which he shared was a wonderful dynamic to be a part of.
“They just treated each other like colleagues and co-creatives in a really nice, collaborative way,” Taylor Hunt added.
Ahead of its release, it has been revealed that the film will be rated R for language, some sexual content, and partial nudity which follows that the source material’s sexual scenes will make it to the movie.
According to the two actors, they worked hard on translating those moments into the big screen.
“There’s so much choreography to sexual scenes,” Zakhar Perez explained on the amount of effort it took to rehearse their sensual scenes.
“It’s a crazy thing to be intimate in that way with your friend. And we want people to fall in love with these characters because their love has to be real,” Galitzine added.
