Lauv has come up with a new label for himself in the process of his journey of getting to know himself better in a new TikTok video.
“I’m gay but I’m not gay but I’m gay but I’m not gay,” Lauv wrote over a video of his face. He captioned the video with ”Something that’s been on this ol’ mind of mine.”

Last week, the songwriter posted a video on YouTube and Instagram where he talked about his life and identity, saying that “one of the things I’ve obsessed about has been my sexuality.” He said that he started thinking about his sexuality in childhood, but only began exploring it in his 20s. “I’ve pushed it down a lot and I felt like this is anxiety and not actually a real thing,” he shared.
The singer also apologized in the video for struggling to talk about his sexuality. He expressed that he wants to let his fans in on his journey.
In a previous TikTok video, Lauv also wrote “When [you’re] dating a girl but [you’re] also a [little] bit into men” with the caption, “Does it have to be that big of a deal? I haven’t done much aside from kiss so [to be honest] I don’t wanna jump the gun. But [to be honest] I feel things, and I don’t wanna pretend I don’t.”
Over the years, Lauv has shown support for the queer community, stating in an interview for GAY Times that the community has been “incredibly important to him.” Lauv also joined the Human Rights Campaign for their Equality Rocks Campaign in 2018, which aimed to spark “conversation about love, fairness and equality around the globe.”
