Tony Awards recently announced their slate of nominees for the 77th Awards Ceremony and the gays are most definitely giving!
Award winners Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Renée Elise Goldsberry announced the exciting nominees for the 26 categories on the ‘CBS Mornings’ show. The award show intended to recognize excellence in plays and musicals on Broadway is to be hosted by queer icon and multi-award-winning actress Ariana DeBose for the third year running (Yes she will do the thing again!).
In the category for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, Out gay actor and ‘Glee’ alum Jonathan Groff is among the nominees for his portrayal of protegee musical composer Franklin Shepard in ‘Merrily We Roll Along’ alongside Eddie Redmayne for the queer musical ‘Cabaret’.
Meanwhile, Lesbian superstar Sarah Paulson is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for her portrayal of Toni in ‘Appropriate’, a suspenseful dramatic-comic American drama play. LGBTQ+ supporters Rachel McAdams and Jessica Lange were recognized as well for their performances in ‘Mary Jane’ and ‘Mother Play’, respectively.
