Netflix has released an exclusive first clip for the queer biopic ‘Nyad’ highlighting the power of queer women’s friendship featuring Annette Bening and Jodie Foster.
The trailer for the anticipated sports biographical film for openly lesbian athlete Diana Nyad (played by Bening) was unveiled on Friday, September 1.
The clip establishes the deep friendship that Nyad and Bonnie Stoll (played by Foster) built over the years when Nyad announces to her friend over a game of ping pong that she plans to swim again from Cuba to Florida at the age of 60 after initially failing in 1978 when she was forced to quit after 42 hours due to massive waves. Nyad then asks Stoll to be her coach in her endeavor which makes Stoll apprehensive and skeptical.
