‘Heartstopper’ star Kit Connor has shared some inspiring words of wisdom to all the queer people who feel pressured to come out.
Talking with Jonathan Anderson in Interview Magazine, Connor looked back at his “forced” coming out experience on Twitter last October 2022 after fans falsely accused him of “queerbaiting.”
Asked what he learned from that experience, Connor expressed his frustration and disappointment from being forced to come out. “I don’t think that it should be something that is speculated on at any age. I really wanted to have that boundary. It was my private information and my personal life that I wanted to keep to myself. So I was kind of frustrated with myself that I gave into it,” he said. But he also added that there are certain things he wanted to keep private and that no matter what he does, people will always have something to say.
“Even with me coming out, people will still have something to say—whether they believe me or not, whether they suddenly think, “Oh, now can he play straight roles?” But whatever they say, they’re going to say something.”
