Danmei Novel ‘SaYe’ Signs Non-Mainland Movie License

A new set of badges appeared on ‘SaYe’s web novel at the JJWXC website, indicating new projects are coming!

‘SaYe 左肩有你’, also known as Run Freely, Act Wildly, is a heartwrenching, slice-of-life novel written by Wuzhe that is getting a non-mainland China film alongside a Europe/America, Asia, Traditional Chinese, and HK/Mau publishing. With this project, some fans assumed that the non-Mainland China adaptation would be either in Thailand or Taiwan.

In addition, the web novel is also adapted into a Chinese drama series called “Chasing the Light,” produced by WeTV and featuring Fan Cheng Cheng and Wang Yu An as Jiang Cheng and Gu Fei, which hasn’t aired due to the existing ban in the country.

The plot of the web novel reads: When Jiang Cheng, a city boy with high academic aspirations and goals to touch the sky, discovers the truth about his family, he finds his life falling apart. With a foster family left behind who doesn’t want him anymore and a newfound family in the steel mills/gangchang who is stranger than a father, Jiang Cheng spirals down a depressive rabbit hole where he feels trapped and wants to leave.

Until, in this strange environment where thugs roam the streets and a wasted father smokes away his life at home, he meets Gu Fei, and his little sister Gu Miao, thus begins their story of freedom and redemption, hope and love where they chase the light together.
