American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish finally broke her silence after she made headlines following her coming out announcement.
Back in November, Eilish interviewed with Variety’s Power of Women issue. There, she disclosed that she struggled to relate to other women.
“I’ve never really felt like I could relate to girls very well. I love them so much. I love them as people. I’m attracted to them as people. I’m attracted to them for real.” she said. “I have deep connections with women in my life, the friends in my life, the family in my life. I’m physically attracted to them. But I’m also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence.”
After the release of this interview, many people began speculating if Eilish was coming out. While attending Variety’s Hitmakers event, Eilish finally spoke up and clarified that she did not mean to come out in the aforementioned interview. “No, I didn’t (mean to come out), but I kinda thought, Wasn’t it obvious? I just didn’t realize people didn’t know.”
“I’m just like, why can’t we just exist? I’ve been doing this for a long time and I just didn’t talk about it. But I was like, I saw all the articles and was like, ‘Oh, I guess I came out today… okay, cool,’” she furthered.
