‘All of Us Strangers’ Earns Praises From Critics, Debuts With Perfect Score On Rotten Tomatoes

All Of Us Strangers

Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal’s ghostly gay romance film ‘All of Us Strangers’ debuted with a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The queer film has received a perfect 100 percent critics’ score on the review aggregation site which means all of the reviews about it so far have been positive.

Following the premiere screening on August 31, Thursday, at the Telluride Film Festival, The New York Times’ Kyle Buchanan called it “shattering and sexy in equal measure.”

The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw said it was “an enormously satisfying and affecting experience” while IndieWire’s David Ehrlich called it an “emotionally shattering ghost story.”

Richard Lawson of Vanity Fair said that it is a “raggedly emotional specter of a ghost story.”

The official description from Searchlight Pictures goes: “One night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (a screenwriter, played by Scott) has a chance encounter with his mysterious neighbor Harry (played by Mescal) that punctures the rhythm of his everyday life. As Adam and Harry get closer, Adam is pulled back to his childhood home where it appears his long-dead parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell) are both living and look the same age as the day they died thirty years before.”

The film is directed by Andrew Haigh and is produced by Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin, and Sarah Harvey. Haigh helmed the 2011 queer indie film Weekend and served as a director and executive producer on HBO’s gay drama-comedy series Looking.

The film is loosely based on the 1987 Japanese novel “Strangers” by Taichi Yamada and the second movie to adapt the book with the first one being “The Discarnates.”

‘All of Us Strangers’ is set to release in theaters on December 22 in the US although a UK release date is yet to be announced.
