Another heartbreaking TV loss for the gays!
‘Everything Now’, a British teen, queer, coming-of-age TV show, will not be coming back for a second season.
In an interview, one of the show’s stars, Dylan Brady announced the sad news stating that, “We had some great ideas but we are at the mercy of the algorithm, I’m afraid.”
Despite promising reviews– obtaining 82% fresh rating from critics and a whopping 90% from the audience on Rotten Tomatoes–the series ultimately succumbed to the daunting challenge of immediate high viewer requirement of the streaming giant, Netflix.
Although ‘Everything Now’ made it to the top 10 series during the 1st week of its debut with 1.3 million views, it was eclipsed by the more popular and established shows such as the release of the fourth and final season of Sex Education which garnered 13.4 million weekly views.
Brady lamented on this new brutal expectation demanded from TV shows saying, “TV has worked in one way, which is a slow, consistent growth over several seasons as opposed to this kind of mentality we see now, where it’s like, ‘If it doesn’t get 16 million views in the first 28 days, it’s not worth anyone’s while.”
