‘9-1-1’ Actors Hint Gay Romance Between Fan-Fave Characters Buck & Eddie

Queer fans of the Ryan Murphy show ‘9-1-1’ have been teased by two of its actors regarding a potential love interest for a fan-favorite ship!

‘9-1-1’ boasts of a few queer characters in the forefront, including Henrietta Wilson (played by Aisha Hinds) who is lesbian and former lead character Michael Grant (played by Rockmond Dunbar) who came out as gay to his wife, Athena (Angela Bassett) fourteen years into their marriage and then to his children.

But aside from those people, there are two specific characters that queer fans have been rooting for to finally get together– Evan “Buck” Buckley (played by Oliver Stark) and Edmundo “Eddie” Diaz (played by Ryan Guzman).

Nicknamed as “Buddie”, the two are portrayed as close straight friends, but their inseparable relationship garnered fans who want to see them become boyfriends.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Guzman shared that the currently-airing seventh season will see “something new” for the pair’s relationship.

“We are closer than ever this season. I can only tease that. There’s a lot of changes in the relationship, in how we interact,” he said with a teasing smile. “We’re trying to give the audience what they want.”

Meanwhile, Stark hinted that Buck and Eddie will be “showing up for each other in different ways” but that “there is potential for not-so-great things to come to light but we get to see their friendship persevering and them being there in ways that they didn’t necessarily expect for each other. I just think it’s a really lovely journey for them this season.”

That’s not a confirmation but hey, it’s a Ryan Murphy series. Maybe with enough fan pressure, the show might finally cave in. Either way, we’re staying tuned!
