One of the most awaited BL series of 2023 is finally getting its pilot trailer!
‘Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!’, or simply ‘Cherry Magic’ is a Japanese manga series revolving around Adachi, who is granted the power to hear others’ thoughts on his 30th birthday and discovers that his co-worker Kurosawa has feelings for him. The manga was adapted into a Japanese series in 2020 starring Akaso Eiji as Adachi and Machida Keita as Kurosawa and it was announced in late 2022 that another adaptation, this time set in Thailand, would be coming soon starring Tay Tawan and New Thitipoom, best known for their work together as Pete and Kao from ‘Kiss The Series’, ‘Kiss Me Again’, and ‘Dark Blue Kiss’. However, this series was the only one out of all the series announced by Thai production company GMMTV that did not have a trailer. Thankfully for fans of the TayNew pairing, that has finally changed.
The trailer shows the basic plot of the original remaining intact, with New Thitipoom as Achi, this adaptation’s equivalent to Adachi, turning 30 and gaining the ability to hear what other people are thinking when making physical contact. Just like in the original, Tay Tawan’s character Karan, a renamed Kurosawa, harbors secret feelings for Achi that he fails to hide thanks to Achi’s newfound powers. As the trailer goes on, glimpses of Achi and Karan’s journey as they slowly go from co-workers to something more are shown, with many of the scenes being faithful to and reminiscent of those in the Japanese adaptation. The trailer also showcased the side couples consisting of Rock and Pai, played by Ssing Harit and Jan Ployshompoo respectively, as well as Min and Jinta, who will be played by Mark Jiruntanin and Junior Panachai respectively.
