Pursuing Their Hopes And Dreams Together in ‘Close Friend S3: Soju Bomb’ Finale

They instantly followed the map in their tattoos after discovering that their passports were plotted on it, and it took them to their agency. Best became enraged, and they argued when he realized Earth had not informed them about the upcoming audition. Will their friendship end along with their journey to become idols? Or will they continue to try out as a group of five? In “Close Friend S3: Soju Bomb” ‘s last episode, let’s find out.

Episode 6.

Everyone was mad when Earth admitted that he meant to keep the audition a secret from all of them. He also confesses that in the past, he told Best that he didn’t want to be an idol, but the latter thought he was making an excuse. Back then, Earth skipped their rehearsal to play some video games, and Best confronted him about it. He told him that he didn’t want to be an idol and that he was just forced by his parents to join the group, but Best didn’t believe him and called him a loser, and he felt hurt. Au also says that he doesn’t want to do another audition because he wants to go home, as he misses his life in Thailand.

After arguing, they decided to continue finding their passports. Their map leads them to a forest park, where they find the bag. But when they opened it, they saw nothing but a piece of paper. They were disappointed, so they checked the map at Dunk’s back again. When they saw a hint, they followed the map, and it led them to their company. All of them were scared to enter the building, but Best promised them that he would take all the blame. Soo Young hugs Best as soon as she sees them entering the building. She hugs Best as soon as she sees him, and a moment later, the CEO steps out and talks to them.

He apologizes to the boys and says that after what they did to the office, he realized that he was being too harsh to them, so he decided to take down all the company rules. He also apologized to them for not debuting but still wished them well. Soo Young also tells them that Yeri paid for all the damages; that’s why the CEO will not press charges against them. All of them cheer now that they found their passports under the office couch, but the happiness ends when they realize that their idol journey has come to an end. As they look back, they remember the moment when Best became their leader and how he cheered them on with fried chicken when they got exhausted from rehearsing.

Best, Dunk, and Win want to do the audition, while Au and Earth want to go back to Thailand. They give them back their passports, and before Au goes away, he hugs his friends and gives them good luck. Three days later, Au goes back to the bar, and he unexpectedly sees Yeri again. Au smiles as he sees her beautiful face again. Yeri notices that, even though he’s finally going home, he is still sad. Au says that he thinks he’s a failure because he’s going back to Thailand while the others will continue to audition. Yeri caresses his hair and tells him that he’s still young, he can still achieve his dreams, and failure is a reward from life.

The three are having a hard time practicing their audition piece as it was choreographed for five people. Soo Young checks on them, and Dink and Win leave her with Best. She gave him a towel, and the latter remembered that Earth was the one in charge of preparing their things. He remembers the time when he found Earth at a bus stop, and he scolded him for skipping their rehearsals. Back then, he told Soo Young that he’d tried training for three years and still had no assurance of their debut. Soo Young lifts his spirits by saying that the company will have a meeting and they might debut soon.

He thanked his girlfriend for supporting him every time. Earth calls the deaf auntie to say goodbye as he and Au leave Korea the next day. Best found him sitting on the stairs while drinking soju. He sits beside him and teases him for drinking soju again. The two smile at each other when, suddenly, Best apologizes to him. They remembered the first time they met in front of their agency building and promised that they would work hard together. Earth jokes that he will return and burn down their office if the three of them do not debut this time. The next day, Au and Earth are ready to go back home when Yeri tags them something on social media.

Best was also tagged on the video where they were all drunk that night and Yeri asks Earth if truth or dare. When the latter tells the truth, Best asks him what his happiest moment is. Earth confessed that his happiest moment was when they were all together because he used to feel a lot of regret after he came there, but he’s happy he got to meet all of them. Best cries as he feels bad that they didn’t get the chance to debut, while Yeri laughs as she continues filming them. Win and Dunk say that it was the best time of their lives. Best cries after watching the video, and they were surprised when they saw Earth and Au coming in.

The two say that they throw away their tickets because they want to audition with them. They hug each other before rehearsing together again. They finally got into the audition, and all of them were shocked when they saw the deaf auntie’s son on the judge’s panel, and the old man was smiling and cheering for them. After the audition, they went back to the bar with Soo Young and Yeri to celebrate their success. As a bartender, Yeri tells the boys that they will only drink water to avoid what happened last time. The series ended with the boys waking up in a deserted place the next day, naked and with different hair colors again, and when they realized that they had gotten drunk again, they looked at each other and shouted ‘soju bomb’.

The map takes them back to their agency, where they discover their passports hidden under the couch, marking the conclusion of their journey to get home. The three still wish to give becoming an idol one final shot, but Au and Earth choose to return home. They reflect on all of their experiences from their three years as trainees as they come to terms with the fact that they will eventually follow different paths. They sob as they recall all of the suffering they endured and how they overcame it all together. As ‘Soju Bomb S3: Close Friend’ shows, we occasionally consider quitting and seeking out different paths due to the difficulties we encounter. Though we should always remember the people who have faith in our ability to fulfill our dreams, we should also focus on the positive aspects of life.
