3 Reasons Why ‘Be My Favorite’ Should Be In Everyone’s Watchlist

There is an ongoing BL series right now that might be flying under your radar and it’s called ‘Be My Favorite’!

This GMMTV’s latest BL series airs every Friday night at 8:30 PM TH time, starring Krist Perawat as Bodkawi, or Kawi for short, and Fluke Gawin as Pisaeng. In fact, the series’ Thai title consists of the names of their characters put together and can be read as “Bodkawi Khong Pisaeng,” (บทกวีของปีแสง) which roughly translates to “Poems of Light Years”. Despite both lead actors having established histories in the BL industry, with Krist being one of the stars of 2016’s ‘SOTUS’, one of GMMTV’s earliest forays into BL, and Gawin playing roles in various BL series ever since Dark Blue Kiss to more recent entries such as ‘Not Me’ and ‘Enchanté’, the series has not quite been getting the usual international attention compared to other GMMTV series, with the latest episode only trending on Twitter in two countries.

But we’re here to give you reasons why you need to watch this *chef’s kiss* BL! Here are the top 3 reasons to watch this series.

1. The unique premise

This series sets itself apart from others as it has Kawi traveling back and forth through time in an attempt to win the heart of Pearmai, his high school crush, who is now set to marry Pisaeng. However, his attempts to change this don’t initially work out, with his first few trips back to the present time showing that the two are still getting married. This leaves viewers wondering: as he grows closer not only to Pearmai, but also to Pisaeng in the past, how will the present change?

2. Multiple engaging plotlines

The time travel premise has made way for the series to tell multiple stories simultaneously. There is the aforementioned love triangle of Kawi, Pisaeng, and Pearmai, but also so much more. Kawi tries fixing his broken friendship with Max, pictured above, while also trying to convince his father to seek medication for his condition, as his father has passed in the current day due to his refusal to get treatment. While the series does offer the romantic storyline BL fans seek out, it is clear that it can offer so much more than that.

3. Undeniable chemistry

Lastly, the lead actors have undeniable chemistry with each other. While it is clear from the beginning that Kawi has his eyes on Pearmai while Pearmai is set to marry Pisaeng, Krist and Fluke made sure to show through their acting that there is potential for their characters to find themselves slowly becoming more than friends, even if that is not what Kawi originally planned when he traveled back in time. Sparks fly when these two are together and that is clear as day thanks to their performances. While Fluke was only cast in this show due to Mike Chinnarat Siriphongchawalit stepping down from the role, it is apparent that he was an excellent pick to act alongside Krist.
