Sometimes we’re accustomed to happy endings to relieve some stress but there are times when we’re just in the mood to watch good angsty dramas to let out some tears. Happily-ever-after dramas tug at our hearts while sad endings make us want to rip our hearts out and cry. If you’re searching for some heart-wrenching series, ready your box of tissues for these tearjerker BLs:

1. Until We Meet Again

‘Until We Meet Again’ shows the story of Pharm and Dean who discover that they are reincarnations of two past lovers who committed suicide due to their star-crossed love.

There is literally a crying scene in every episode of this series. The dark and dramatic beginning may be overwhelming, in addition to that, the whole drama tackles serious social issues. Despite those, ‘Until We Meet Again’ is undoubtedly worth it to watch with its well-written script and production that will surely make you feel for the characters; in the present or the past.

2. History 3: Make Our Days Count

‘Make Our Days Count’ depicts the story of two high school students: Yu Xi Gu, a bookish student who prefers to keep a low profile, and Xiao Hao Ting, an extroverted oftentimes bully. Even with their opposite personalities, the two develop an unthinkable relationship with each other.

The series started the ban of the word ‘salt’ among fans because of a specific scene in one of the episodes in the series. I’m sure all of us were left traumatized after finishing this. Besides that particular part, the series beautifully shows the love between the two characters even with the differences in the status of their lives. It also presents the enemies-to-lovers trope fans enjoy.

3. The Miracle of Teddy Bear

‘The Miracle of Teddy Bear’ follows the story of Tofu, a giant white teddy bear who has provided comfort to Nut for years and one day turned into a young man. He starts to look for his past memories all while managing his developing feelings as his time as a human runs out.

The series’ ending was heartwrenching but it was kind of hinted from the start. What could be the possibility of a bear and a human ending up together? We were still hopeful for that feel-good ending though. Besides the fantasy genre, the series gives awareness about mental health and other serious topics. Surprisingly, the show was melodramatic but occasionally fun.

4. Theory of Love

‘Theory of Love’ is about the three-year unrequited love of Third who has decided to stop his feelings for Khai, his friend, who starts to realize his feelings for him after and decides to win him back.

I’m sure we were all feeling the pain of Third when we were watching this. What could be a more painful love than an unrequited love with your friend? The scenes being connected to classic rom-com is a treat and the showcase of both their perspectives is a good way to understand the characters more. Overall a great series to binge-watch if you want something romantic, comedic, and angsty.
