“The New Employee: The Movie” to Be Shown at Jeonju International Film Festival

The movie version of ‘The New Employee’ will be having its first screening at the 24th Jeonju International Film Festival.

Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF) is an Asian annual film festival launched in 2000 as a non-competitive film festival with partial competition and introduces independent and experimental films to focus on the alternative course of contemporary film art. This year’s JIFF will be held from April 27 to May 6 in Jeonju, South Korea, showcasing 247 films from 42 countries. A total of 11 Korean films, 25 Korean indie films, and 10 international films have been invited to the festival.

“The New Employee: The Movie” is one of the new Korean films to be introduced under the Korean Cinema section which introduces new films by directors who have previously presented their works in Jeonju. It is based on Moscareto’s hit novel of the same name and was adapted into a seven-episode web drama. It was aired last December 21st on the local streaming site, Watcha Korea, and in selected regions on Rakuten Viki. It stars Moon Ji Yong (from Idol Romance 2022 BL drama “Once Again”) and model-turned-actor, Kwon Hyuk and under the direction of Kim Jhi Kwang Soo, who directed Queer / Gay Shorts and Movies: “Boy Meets Boy (2008)”, “Just Friend? (2009)”, “Love 100°C (2010)”, “One Night Only (2014)”, and “Made on the Rooftop (2021)”.

Here’s an overview from the movie: On the first day of his internship, the bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Seung-hyun meets the workaholic manager Jong-chan. Seung-hyun immediately falls in love with the handsome and perfect Jongchan at first sight. Seung-hyun tries his best, but it’s his first time interning and dating. Things are not going as planned.

For international fans, you don’t have to worry since Rakuten already acquired “The New Employee: The Movie”, which the platform already created as its dedicated page, and fans will have to wait a little longer for its domestic and overseas releases.
