‘Happy Merry Ending’ is starting off to a good start, though with some curious implications from our leads. Here’s a recap of what has happened in the first two episodes of this Korean BL drama.
Episode 1: Always a wedding singer, never a groom
The opening scene was of Lee Seung Jun meeting a man by the bridge, indicating that they have separated but have met once again. Back to the current time, Seung Jun is late for work. He is on his bed with his friend (? or boyfriend?) and he hurriedly dresses up to go to his work as a wedding singer. As he reaches the venue, he wears sunglasses and starts to sing while Song Jae Hyun, a one-time accompanist, starts to play the piano for the wedding. Jae Hyun was clearly entranced by Seung Jun’s voice and continued to show interest in him, asking his friend (and a wedding prep staff) who he was. The two were introduced, and Jae Hyun showed interest in him, even introducing himself as someone who will continue to play the piano at wedding events (even though he said he was too busy with his daily work to play the piano at events!). Jae Hyun initiated an after-work dinner with the other wedding event workers but the ever-introverted Seung Jun turned down the invitation.
With Jae Hyun’s consistent (albeit annoying) insistence, however, he finds himself sitting at a table with his other colleagues. But Jae Hyun has a reason why he doesn’t socially mingle, and it stems from a very painful memory that leads him to suffer from a mental illness.

Episode 2: Is it okay to start over?
Seung Jun left his medication at home, leading him to endure a panic attack. He, then, turns to drink his pain away. The next day, he goes to see his friend to ask him what time he arrived, and he said that it was around 2 a.m. He found it weird especially because he knows that the dinner ended at 11 p.m. But he got his answer when Jae Hyun sends him a message, and there he remembered last night’s events. Seung Jun became really drunk and Jae Hyun took care of him, even taking him home. Seung Jun said that he will pay the “taxi fee” when he becomes sober and that he will not run away, giving Jae Hyun his business card. However, Jae Hyun said that instead of that, he would rather receive vocal lessons from him.
Jae Hyun returns to his day job of managing a coffee shop, all smiles because he had a moment with Seung Jun, a man he’s interested in. However, despite what happened last night, he doesn’t receive a reply from him. Seung Jun busies himself with work but still ignored Jae Hyun’s messages. After work, he sees Jae Hyun but was triggered by a memory from his ex-boyfriend who gave him such incredible trauma, saying unkind words and bringing bad memories, which he still finds hard to get over. Jae Hyun asks him to go out together for dinner, but Seung Jun turned him down and walked away alone. He goes home, drinks his med, and breaks down.
