Episode 6. The Promise To Never Be Apart
After Ki Tae kisses Wan, he asks, “Do you want to try again?” and leans on Wan’s shoulder. The following day, when Ki Tae arrives at the office, he asks to follow him into the conference room — where they discuss some feedback from the beta test and, of course, find out Wan’s response to his question last night
On their rest day, Ki Tae asks Wan to go on a date to the park. Their adorable and romantic first date finally happened and they spent time with each other talking about a lot of topics, but mostly about their feelings. Ki Tae asks when Wan plans to end his one-sided love, wherein Wan says it will take a while for Ki Tae to catch up to his long-time one-sided love for him. Ki Tae emphasized, yet again, that he liked Wan ever since he disappeared, but also accidentally revealed that he dated someone during those seven years apart. Ki Tae, however, said that he can only really go out with someone he truly liked, and this was when Wan asked him to start dating him.
After that adorable first date, the two are now found at Ki Tae’s place, Wan is lying down and reading a comic while Ki Tae is playing a game that reminds them of their high school days when they became closer and still an otaku, a person who is obsessed with mangas and comics. Ki Tae asks Wan to stare at him while he’s sleeping, who later can’t resist Wan’s cuteness. Ki Tae closes his eyes and tells Wan he can do whatever he wants, and Wan steals a kiss on Ki Tae’s lips. And Ki Tae started tickling Wan.
Back at the office, Jamie finally introduces her friend to Wan. Ki Tae saw his boyfriend being very friendly with a girl and was about to go over but their CEO told him not to bother them. In front of the elevator, you can tell how sulky and jealous Ki Tae is, but Wan pacifies his jealous lover. After that, they head to the rooftop to sort out what happened earlier. They talked and concluded that they need to be careful and reject Jamie if she introduced someone for a blind date. The couple spends more quality time with each other. However, Wan suddenly received a text message from PD Ahn, who changed his phone number and wanted to meet him to make an offer. What would his response be as they promised each other they would never be apart?
Episode 7. At the Crossroads of Choice
Shin Ki Tae meets and hangs out with his high school friends at a restaurant. They wonder how he found Lee Wan and the reason behind his disappearance. Ki Tae only tells them that he is working in the same company as him. He also explains that Wan moved to Daejeon to help his late Aunt and elder sister run the family restaurant. Throughout their friendly conversation, Ki Tae shows uneasiness due to his anxiety that Wan might disappear from his life again.
On the other hand, Wan meets PD Ahn, and the PD offers to join them in a camp in Australia next month. Lee Wan is caught at within the crossroads of choice between a good stepping stone that awaits him and the risk of losing the person he loves the most.
Wan arrives at his boyfriend’s place after drinking with the PD, where his boyfriend has been waiting for him. Due to his drunken state, He accidentally slips up and says, “What if I leave” where Ki Tae’s anxiousness flares up The following day, Ki Tae confronts him, asking for more information about what he said last night. He expresses his worries and told him that he fears that Wan might disappear again. But he assured Wan that he wouldn’t let him go as he did before.
That night after the confrontation, Ki Tae started to worry as Wan was not responsive to his calls. He starts shouting Wan’s name and looks for him. Ki Tae, who fears losing him, sheds tears when he finally finds his boyfriend and hugs him tightly.
Episode 8. The Conclusion of the Game
Wan wakes up alone and heads to the office as Ki Tae, who attends a business meeting. While working, CEO Theo went over to Wan and asked him when he started drawing. He responded, “Since high school”. As Sunny flips the pages of Wan’s old sketchbook, she said that she “can tell the reason”. When Wan realized the reason was Shin Ki Tae the whole time, he took the rest of the day off and rushes to Toon Business Center and talked to PD Ahn. He told PD Ahn that he chooses to not accept his offer because he has a better reason to stay, and the person he loves is one of the main reasons.
Wan and Ki Tae meet outside the building where PD Ahn’s office is located. Sulky Wan expresses his worries when Ki Tae didn’t inform him of his urgent business trip. Suddenly Wan hugs and asks Ki Tae to go home and eat tteokbokki, a spicy rice cake. As they are heading home, Ki Tae reminds his boyfriend that his birthday is coming up tomorrow and asks what his gift is. At midnight, Ki Tae receives a special gift from his boyfriend. Wan told him to visit the blog, where he was granted access to the private content that tells Wan’s story of what happened after the confession occurred during their high school graduation until his unexpected encounter at the company. Ki Tae comments on the blog, “I love the version of you that I didn’t know.” After reading the comment, he called his boyfriend to go out.
The two head to the rooftop, where they recall the confession that happened. Wan confessed again and asked Ki Tae what his response was this time. Ki Tae accepted his confession and kissed Lee Wan. The two shared a passionate kiss.
That morning, the Re:Try team tried to throw a surprise birthday party for Ki Tae, but the couple screwed it up. Wan also told the team that he received an official request from a webtoon platform and will be debuting as an artist but rejected the offer. However, he received a call from them to webtoonized the dating game that Re:Try was developing for better promotion and to expand its storyline. The team gratefully accepted the offer. A year later, Shin Ki Tae and Lee Wan live together and share a domesticated lifestyle.
“Our Dating Sim” came out as arguably one of the best Korean BL web dramas in the first quarter of 2023. No wonder fans start tagging Studio Winsome to ask for a sequel or a new project together for the two actors who obviously had great chemistry together. Even the actors were hoping for that to happen, as well. The second half of the web drama shows impressive, impactful, and top-notch acting. The show has a well-paced screenplay, despite being short. The drama also had a great choice of the original soundtrack. To sum it all up, it is definitely one of the highly recommended BLs this year and we are looking forward to what’s next from the production.
